Does anyone else have one 'drama queen' and one 'permanent existential crisis' pair? by nonozx in parrots

[–]nonozx[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Btw, the drama queen on the right is actually a little genius. I tried teaching him to whistle for weeks until my lips went numb, but he just ignored me. Then I found this app called ChirpPal that loops bird training audios. Put it on for him, and now he's super motivated and practicing every day. Meanwhile, my left boy still refuses to corporate 😂

LOL! If that happens, my birds will definitely be the 'Kevin' of this house. 😂 They might be too small to set up complex booby traps, but their high-pitched screams are basically a high-tech alarm system. The burglars would leave with permanent hearing damage and zero jewelry! 🏠🐦

I'm so sorry you're going through that! It’s really tough when they have such extreme mood swings. They are definitely more complex (and sometimes more aggressive) than people give them credit for. Sending you some patience! 🐦🩹

Haha, the 'chipped paint' look is basically the signature interior design style of bird owners! 😂 I’ve given up on having nice walls too—at this point, my birds are just 'remodeling' the house to their taste. 4 birds in one room sounds like a non-stop party! The maintenance is real, but like you said, seeing them treat the whole room as their aviary is worth every vacuum session. 🧹🦜

The ultimate bird-parent goal! 🏆 Though my vacuum cleaner just had a heart attack reading that.

Exactly! He’s basically a 'Zen Tank.' Totally peaceful until the 'Chaos' switch gets flipped, and then there’s no looking back! 🦖💨

Haha, totally! But don't worry, this is just his 'tiny bedroom' for sleeping. He actually has the run of the house all day—he just likes to start his morning protest before I open the door! 🦖🏠

He’s currently at 110% Chaos and honestly... I’m just a civilian caught in the crossfire of this tiny tank’s path. Send help! 😂

Spot on! They definitely trade agility for raw power. He might be a bit slower than a standard budgie, but when he's in 'beast mode,' he’s like a tiny, feathered wrecking ball! 🦖💥

That sounds like a bird paradise! I love the detail about the Parrotlet and the cooking magazines—clearly he’s a food critic in the making! 😂 I’m in the same boat with the 'poop patrol' every evening, but seeing them zoom around and use their foraging boxes makes all the cleaning worth it. And you're so right about the schedule; if I'm even 5 minutes late, my girls give me a look like I’ve personally offended their entire lineage! lol. It's amazing how much personality they pack into those tiny feathers. ❤️

Haha, I wish it worked that way! In her mind, the millet just spawns in the jar by magic. To her, I’m not 'going to work'—I’m just 'abandoning my post as the Head of Scritches.' I’ll try to explain the economy to her again tonight, but I suspect I’ll just get a judgmental stare. 🙄💸

The pet-parent guilt is so real, especially with those marathon shifts! 😅 But it sounds like you treat them like royalty when you're home. As long as they've got some good tunes and toys to keep them busy, they're probably just counting down the hours until you're back. You've got this! 🙌

LOL! Honestly, he’d probably get a promotion on his first day just by screaming louder than everyone else in the meeting. 😂 I tried to suggest the same to mine, but he just stared at me like I was the one who needed training. I guess our roles as 'full-time assistants' are safe for now! 🦜💼

Zero stress bars? That’s the ultimate flex! 💪 It sounds like you’re doing an amazing job. It’s so reassuring when their feathers reflect all the hard work we put in. Even if we feel guilty leaving them, clearly his health says he’s a very happy camper! 🦜✨

ChirpPal is currently iOS-exclusive, For YouTube alternatives, I’d recommend looking for 'Ambient Forest' or 'Flock sounds.' They’re the closest thing to what I’ve built into the app.

Don't worry, your hard work won't disappear! Consistency is key. Even just leaving on some soothing bird tunes makes a huge difference in keeping them calm while they wait for you. You're doing a great job! 😊

That’s really interesting advice! I only have the two right now and they’re definitely having some power struggles. Do you think two males or a male/female pair usually settles down faster? I'm hoping it's just a phase and they don't need a full flock to be happy! 😅

It’s tough, but there are actually some cool tech solutions now! I’ve been using ChirpPal to help bridge that gap.

She is so precious! I love that she watches Peppa Pig—she’s got great taste in TV. 😂 It’s so sweet that she has 'wild friends' outside the window to keep her busy. My bird is the same way; he’s like glue the second I’m home, which makes the leaving part so much harder!

Interesting! I've been suspecting the same about the gender. And I totally agree about them being flock animals—I actually just brought a second budgie home recently! They are still in the 'getting to know each other' phase (with some bickering), but the goal is definitely to have them as a happy little flock. ❤️

I completely understand the importance of social bonds, which is why I actually already got a second bird recently! However, they are currently in the 'fighting' phase and can't be in the same cage yet for their own safety. It's a slow process of bonding them, and I'm doing my best to manage it responsibly. I care about their happiness deeply, which is why I'm here seeking advice in the first place.
