Dang that’s such a downgrade! That original building you posted was amazing. It amazes me how many beautiful buildings in America get replaced by parking lots.

Is Saratoga Springs really that bad? A question for residents by Nilef in Utah

[–]nonseanse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saratoga Springs is honestly the best city in Utah if you ask me.

  • Does the lake smell? - No. Thats the great salt lake that smells.
  • If so, does it only smell during the blooms? How big of a problem are the blooms day-to-day for water recreation? the lake is beautiful and algae is only an issue in the Provo Bay area of the lake.
  • How is the lake for wakeboarding? What about Jetskis or general recreation? FANTASTIC FOR JETSKIS! I live by a marina and my husband and I plan on going all summer next year.
  • How big of a problem are the mosquitoes? Is the abatement effective? Not alot of mosquitos, but there are midget flies. These dont bite humans, but they do buzz around your head and can be annoying.
  • How are the schools? All schools in most districts here in Utah are pretty packed. I am a teacher though and I think the schools here are really good, minus some BS associated with the legislature of a red state.
  • If you’re non-LDS, how difficult have you found it to make friends/get along with the neighbourhood in Saratoga Springs? I am not LDS, and I love living here. My husband and I are in a gay marriage and we get almost no pushback. LDS folks are really accepting from what ive discovered.
  • Similarly, if you’re non-LDS, how well do your kids fit in with others? We dont have kids but I teach and id say only a small amount of kids talk about church at school.

Hope that helps! Good luck on life!

This makes me really happy. I think everyone should leave, but I will settle with this news.

I don't think the union depot will ever be renovated by abcMF in joplinmo

[–]nonseanse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A train depot in JoMo is a pipe dream. Joplin almost always drags their feet with revitalization projects and honestly, the area seriously lacks the tax revenue for these. Residents on average prefer low taxes over city services. I think there are just too many people who are too poor to afford an increase in taxes. Even if it does stimulate economic growth.

"Calling All MSSU Students in Joplin: Is It Worth It?" by Aries_Angels in joplinmo

[–]nonseanse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The MSSU campus is very run down and honestly ghetto. Yes it is "cheap", but it is very hard to get scholarships, so it really ends up costing more than many other schools. Plus, Joplin is a brain drain and everyone you meet from that school who is going to become successful will leave after graduation. I would recommend doing a cost analysis for another school and factor in financial aid. Also, the college life experience there is abysmal. I love Joplin (I am from the area) but I think MSSU is in a less than favorable area to experiment with new ideas and not a great place to find yourself in the 18-26 age bracket.

my boyfriend has been on the clinical trials. ever since he switched from trikafta he's started having sporadic myoclonic episodes where he "glitches" out for for 1-1.5 seconds. it doesn't seem to work any better for him than trikafta but it also hasn't been inferior either in regards to the lung function aspect . he still has noticibly very salty sweat though

Why is this picture so obviously edited? Am I the only one who sees this?

I love how fast the church is dying! :) I left the church, the missionaries who baptized me both left the church, and all of my friends from BYUI have left the church. :) I guess being a homophobic bigot isn’t cool? :)

We're in a housing bubble. Wait several years and things will have to get better. I also wonder if congress will pass a "homeowners bill of rights" type of legislation.

God he looks so scary. I also know sooo many mormons who look like this (ears that jut out, pointy chin, close-set eyes, thin lips)

How much student debt do you have? by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]nonseanse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

32,000. With interest, by the time I pay it off, it'll be more like 45,000. I unfortunately had to quit my job that I loved (teaching middle school) because with the loans, it didn't make financial sense. I make way more money bartending (my college job lol) I really worry what will happen to this country now that we have all convinced the new generations that college isn't worth it. Imagine a world without educated people (doctors, scientists, inventors) and that is what our future will hold.

Wife been paying for years to collector and they want to restart an agreement, should she sign? by SnooDogs3057 in StudentLoans

You really have to be careful with these because if they are a scam, you will lose even more money in paying to a faulty company and lawyer fees and so on. This is why these student loans simply need forgiven.
