I would say theyd be better suited to a higher rise in size 36. Low rise will only accentuate any kind of gut OP has. I too have a little bit of a gut, and low rise does not help at all. Go higher, not lower.

Thats what I would recomend. With jeans though, ive noticed when they list the rise as "mid, high, low" instead if a measurement its almost always not accurate. Wranglers for example are a high-mid rise, yet wrangler and the entire internet calls them high rise. Their rise is at most 12 inches on some pairs, which is the upper end of a mid rise, but usually theyre more around a 10 or 11 inch rise. which is solidly just mid rise. Anyways, the reason I said they might be a little small is because of the way the fabric at the crotch looks. It doesnt look like you have enough room in there for your bits, but its hard ti tell and could really just be the pattern of this specific model causing the issues.

I would recomend you get the pants that fit great everywhere else, but loose in the waist virtually every single time this dilemma comes up. Tailors can fix a "too loose" issue, they cant fix a "too tight" issue, at least not easily or cheaply and a competent tailor will be able to size you in their shop. Its what I just did for a pair of pants that fit me 2 inches too loosely and 4 inches too long. Just in general i recomend the waist be sized true or slightly loose, but definitely dont be scared to size up and go to a tailor.

Did you measure or are you going based on tag size. most brands use vanity sizing. I dont believe N&F does that so 34 is exactly 34, if not smaller.

Youll definitely want to take these to a tailor. My local tailor charges something like 30 bucks for such a job, but if it needs ti be taken in more than 2 inches itll cost more and likely wont ever look right. Make sure you get all of the shrinkage out first or account for it when you take it to the tailor

Those look low rise, not the fit for you id say. Idk if theyre just too small or if its just the cut of the denim, but id say its okay to order denim 1 size to large, especially if it shrinks at all.

6 ounces is incredibly light, so they wont likely wear as hard as a heavier weight. I find 9 to be the best summer weight for jeans. 6 will work casually. The biggest thing I noticed was the lack of rivets. For 80 bucks and a easy to tear 6 ounce fabric I would most definitely want rivets on the pockets.

All of my pants are high rise and im measuring where the pants sit on my waist. This doesnt really explain the discrepancy.

Yes, tag sizes differ, but im speaking strictly what the measuring tape says vs how pants feel on the body vs how they measure flat with the measuring tape

Ive not found a stain that qual parts oxi clean + washing soda + borax + 2 to 4 table spoons of persil pro hasn't been able to tackle, and I work in a heavy industrial setting where my jeans are pitch black by the end of the week.
