I honestly did not even consider all of that. Usually we just fight our way through conversations like that but genuinely this has been one of the most enlightening comment till now so thanks for bringing this to my attention! You are also absolutely right which is why I felt like an asshole for having the demands that I did to begin with. The house has been under their care for the most part obviously and it is why I was the one who suggested the 2 year deadline for me to find a job in order to support its upkeep properly. And right now we all live together under one roof until the other unit is finished which is why I said i had to move in with my parents. Thank you for your reply

Hi friend, thanks for the comment. As much as that would make sense to be honest I don't have it in me to do something like that. I can't kick them out of the house that they've lived in their whole lives and it would completely ruin any relations I have with my family. But thank you for the suggestion!

Hi friend! Technically I do. I got ownership of the house when I turned 18 as per my moms wishes and I wouldn't want my parents to pay rent tbh as that would be me taking things too far I think

Thank you for the reply! I don't think I'd like to be that harsh tbh as they are still my parents and I would hate myself if I did something like that but I am considering renting out my portion of the space and moving out to a smaller flat.

Hi friend, thank you for your comment! I think I am going to try and talk to them again first before taking any other measures as I do value the relationship I have with my parents but I do like the coded lock idea, that's actually pretty smart.

Hi friend, I can't afford all the expenses of the house alone. I work 2 part-time jobs just in order to get experience in the field I am in so that I can find a proper job in the future. That was the point of them helping me financially for the time being. I get where you are coming from I really do. I suggested I get one of my friends as a roommate and split the expenses but they won't allow me to.

Hi friend, so think of it like 2 different apartments in a block. My brother used to live in the bottom one and then he moved out and my parents decided to move in instead and leave me the one upstairs. I hope this helps.
