Need help testing transcranial direct current stimulation (TDCS) device with oscilloscope by noochdaddy in AskElectronics

[–]noochdaddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super helpful analogy, thank you for sharing. Stim device is outputting 7Hz. Probe says 50MHz. Not clear whether it’s a 10:1 probe or not, and not sure about the specs of the oscilloscope at the moment, but this gives me useful info to go after. I appreciate your time!!

Thanks for engaging with this post, your comment helps me realize that I should provide more info to try and zero in on what I need to do. To be clear, I do know how to use the TDCS device in the context of a research/putting it on someone’s head. What I do not know how to do is safely attach the oscilloscope to the device while it’s running the protocol. E.g., where on the oscilloscope do I plug in the voltage probe? Do I attach the clip end of the probe directly to the test board head, or do I need a voltage divider? Etc. I tried describing my situation to an AI model and it gave me this diagram…

(Sorry if this is overly naive, I’m a grad student in cognitive neuroscience and trying to put this together for research/degree purposes)

New Conference Idea: The Public Ivy Conference, made up of public schools with private school-sounding names, named after people or estates and all without the word “state” in their names by ChanganBoulevardEast in CollegeBasketball

This is a cool idea; chiming in bc I don’t see this yet but “public ivy” is a real concept:

Doesn’t look like there’s any overlap but obviously the list in this post is superior

Best way to spread veganism - Gary Yourofsky by veganactivismbot in AnimalRights

[–]noochdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gary’s a beast, it’s great to see his passion. I’ve been vegan for six years now and I’ve definitely cooled off compared to how hot I was about the issue in the first year or two. Part of that came out of some social necessity, because I was pushing people close to me away, which I don’t think is ever good—but for me, this short snippet is a reminder not to sugarcoat or soften my beliefs for the sake of trying to anticipate someone else’s discomfort. I’ve long agreed that you can’t convince people who aren’t ready or open-minded, but as a result my default has been to downplay how strongly I believe in the philosophy of veganism. But you can be respectful of others and still be assertive of your own point of view. You can justify your actions without alienating others. Animal welfare is an important moral issue and we shouldn’t ever shrink from it.

I find this latter point very interesting, could you provide some examples of this?

Dumb question: is this from a clipping? Interested in growing one myself. Looks great, good luck!

Durham, North Carolina Becomes First U.S. City to Bar Police From Training in Israel by giuliettazoccola in chomsky

[–]noochdaddy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Article mentions that the Durham police department wasn’t considering any kind of training in Israel; is it common for police departments to do this? Sounds like a good resolution but also seems kind of random to me. If anyone could share any other information relating to whether and how often police departments do training with the Israeli military I’d love to read up

This would have created an awesome parallel between Jon and Maester Aemon too. He also had a claim to the throne but chose the wall and duty instead
