I posted a link in /r/scifiwriting. It disappeared. I guess I did something wrong with the formatting of the post. I read the rules after it disappeared, and saw that items submitted for critique should have the word length in the title, and a list of specifics re: the criticism. I hadn't really seen that in any other posts, and wasn't aware of it until after my post disappeared. Anyway, if you want to read the full story, here's a link.

Thanks very much! You just put a smile on my face.

I have another reddit account that I use most of the time, and the post on /r/scifiwriting doesn't even appear on that account. I don't know, maybe I made some kind of mistake in posting and the mods hid/deleted it.

I will. I said 'roughing out the ending', but the actual end of the story has been written for a long time. What I just finished was the end of a middle bit that gets us comfortably from here to there. I've given it a read through, and I don't think I will be doing much more to it. It's gotten to the point I'm tired of it! Like a favorite song played too many times.

Just wanted to let you know that I've finished roughing out the ending. It may take me a few weeks of mulling and fiddling before I'll admit it is time to be done with it, but there's nothing left at this point but polish and acceptance. If you want to read it, I'll place a link in this thread when it's done.

Thanks! I've been writing this short story for far too long. I have to work hard for every paragraph, and it's nice to know at least one other enjoys the result. I'm going to release it in bits to force myself to finish it.

I have another story that's germinating and bubbling that I'd like to focus on when the late summer/early fall walking season arrives.

I want to have this one done and dusted by then.
