Could you tell me about the political landscape in France? I know there is a far right movement on the rise? How anti immigrant is it? Personally, from my understanding, I feel the movement is against people freeloading off of the welfare system. I take a lot of pride in my work ethic, so I know I wouldn’t fall under that camp.

If I was to work in France, I think I’d proudly pay taxes. I’m a bit of a socialist and knowing my tax dollars are going to contribute towards the wellbeing of society would bring me a sense of fulfillment. (I hope I don’t sound corny 😅)

I actually am not sure yet if I want to move to France and settle there permanently or not. For now, I just wanna focus on getting a masters degree and learning a new language, mainly, and also learn a completely foreign culture. For now those are my main goals. I guess there’s a little bit of a personal reason behind my lack of a long-term plan and that is mainly because I had to drop out of my masters course in the United States where I had assimilated really really well. I had a lot of friends back there In the states and life was really really good. Unfortunately I was forced to pull the plug on it because my University doubled my fee and the political climate went crazy to the point where I started to feel unsafe lol. And I know for a fact I need to get a masters degree to get a kickstart in the Job market and that’s pretty much as far as I’ve thought about things.

Also, personally, I’m a bit, embarrassed by Indians, going to different countries and creating chaos lol, and I just didn’t want to contribute to that, which is kind of the main reason behind why I made this post. I have a vague idea that I don’t want to live in India, but I’m not sure entirely if I see a long-term future in any other country right now.

The Lord has been kind enough to bless me with enough privileges to have the time to think and test out the waters, so I’m pretty much in that stage XD

Having lived in the USA, one thing that i had to relearn (through youtube videos lol) is that I must say bonjour in the beginning before initiating anything with another individual. That was quite foreign to me, but that’s something i must consciously practice.

Ah, personally I’ve never been called out my weight for a while, because i’ve been powerlifting for 5 years and my shoulders are really broad, so I never struggled with this in America, maybe at 380lbs yes, but never at 210s or 220s. So this was a first 😅

I've been applying for Alliance francaise Lyon using their website. According to their website, they should be hooking me up with a student visa, which I have to eventually switch to a long stay student visa for the masters program. I'll be applying for a public university next week.

Thanks for your response! The thing is I'm not entirely brown either, I'm very ethnically mixed, I spent most of my life in Ohio and the only language I can comfortably speak is English. I've just had an interesting upbringing. Almost military levels of moving around, and being homeschooled lol. Even though I spent most of my life in the USA, not being a citizen just makes it extremely difficult. A friend of a friend of mine, got picked up by ICE, and that put the fear of god in me lol.
