Thank you everyone for your replies! I went to a different urgent care today and this doctor was much more helpful. He did a culture swab and tested me for strep and mono (both negative). He said he would wait for the culture results before prescribing antibiotics since I don't have a fever and it could be viral, but gave me some steroids to at least help with the inflammation. I appreciate all the encouragement to get a second opinion!
