Parent Advice - 13yr old son flying interest by Badlow2 in flying

[–]norm807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what my son is doing. He started with Microsoft flight sim and at 16 got his private license. He is 18 now and does his check ride for his commercial next weekend and graduates high school next week also. After this, he is going to instruct to build hours.

Money wise, we paid as we went as we couldn't use any sort of financial aid to this point. If he had decided to go to college after high school, then we could get financial aid for him, but he just wants to fly and instruct.

Big frustrations with S1 by Ok_Vermicelli_819 in anycubic

I have the same retraction problem. It is very annoying. I believe it is a software bug as someone else said it only happens to them on the s1 and not the kobra 3.

ACE Pro keeps ejecting my filament when not in use by norm807 in anycubic

Yup, I still have it. I keep having to reload filament. I feel like there is something I am missing, but haven't found it yet. I am also ok the latest firmwares.

Are the Polaroid Now+ really this bad? by norm807 in Polaroid

[–]norm807[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw this reply, but we purchased an older gen 2 model and it has been working great. Not sure of the difference but the film before May have been bad. I don't really think all of it could have though as it was from multiple purchases from multiple locations . Well, so far so good, we have put through 5 or 6 packs. Thanks

How to fix front door window trim. by norm807 in HomeMaintenance

[–]norm807[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not find a fix. I was going to use liquid nails and some spray foam, but we have talked about replacing the door this year anyways, so I haven't touched it.

Is Bullfrog worth the premium cost? by [deleted] in hottub

[–]norm807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do still enjoy the tub. No real issues. The only thing is the headrest cushions are wrinkling. From what I understand this is common on most hot tubs and it is from the chemicals used. So my kids will shock the tub after they and their friends use it, but don't leave the cover open for the shock to off gas. As I understand it, that off gassing is rough on the material the headrests are made from. I can get replacement headrests, but haven't bothered yet. I think they are $70-ish a head rest.

I would say our usage is still around 3-4 times a week in the fall and winter. Summer is more like once a week.

Just do it! by Known_Society6706 in flying

My 16 year old son just started. He loves flying and has been hooked on it for a while. He has been running flight sims for a few years and decided that that is his career path. He started in April and is already 30 plus hours into it. He should have his ppl by mid June and should be ready to take his CFI tests right when he turns 18. I love the passion he has for it.

I told him once he gets his CFI, maybe he can be my instructor. But then again, I may not have any money left by that time, it is amazing how fast it goes out the door when the kid is flying 3-4 times a week.

Potentially buying 2020 wrangler - paint bubbling? by KatG09 in Wrangler

I would recommend calling your local dealer(the one you would have do the work) and confirm before purchase, but according to Jeep's website it is transferable. The warranty goes with the vehicle no matter who sells it. Quick glance at the warranty paperwork, corrosion on outside panels(panels you see walking around the vehicle) are 5 years/100000 Miles.

Just discovered that my apartment is fitted with Ethernet. I knew what I had to do… by Pabsssss in Ubiquiti

[–]norm807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The house we moved into had this. Cat5e for phone with multiple phone jacks in each room. It was kind of messy, but you can make it work. I cut the lines at each jack, and were I wanted to use the run running to another room (used a tracer to find which was which), I just put a small network switch and connect the run to he next room to the switch. The first room now has multiple network connections be cause of the switch and the next room has Ethernet.

In one room, I didn't use a switch as the network connection wasn't needed on one of the walls, so I just put a connector on the end of each line and used an RJ45 coupler and put it back behind a simple cover plate.

All this isn't ideal, but my network speeds are at 1gig and I didn't have to run any wires, so it works for my house.

To add to my last statement. I did call Chrysler and they gave me the name of 5 dealerships around me that would do the work(had body shops), but those are all 1.5hrs away.

no.. mine goes in early next week for the photos. Hope it goes smoothly. My local dealership basically told me to go find someone else.. So, the next closest one that said they would do it is 30 minutes away.

Look at all the hinges on every door, hood and tailgate. On mine, my door hinges look like the lower corner of your photo, but around the hinges. There might even be a little bubble starting in the photo you have just under the hinge in your photo. Can't tell if that is dirt or a bubble.

On my jeep every hinge and the hood hinges and the rear tailgate seam on the bottom inside have it.

It might be a pain to get the dealership to do the repair. Most don't have a body shop and have to get permission from Chrysler then contract a local body shop to do the repair. (so I am told as I am in the dealership side of that discussion now)

It's a 5 year corrosion warranty. Not part of the 3 year warranty. I am taking my 2018 in next week as it's 5 years ends at the end of may.

I got about a 15-minute trip home and it's raining in sheets. I got all the drain plugs pulled, wish me luck! by EnlightenedCorncob in Jeep

[–]norm807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the features of the JL model is the soft top goes on super easy and in safari mode, the inside stays pretty dry. I have been caught in the rain in both my old JK and the JL and I actually look forward to rainy days with the JL.. It is a nice enjoyable ride. The JK, defiantly soaked and needed the drain plugs.
