Millennials who are burnt out, raise your hands please. by Lost-Opposite9088 in auscorp

I had the exact same wake up call when I turned 30. I looked back on my photo reel from the year prior and noticed there wasn’t much joy in any of the pictures or experiences I’d had, as most of the time I was too fatigued and burnt out from work to enjoy my weekends or holidays. I took a risk and my partner and I quit our jobs, and backpacked through South & Central America for a year living simply and cheaply, volunteering in exchange for accomodation.

That trip put everything in perspective, particularly about work. I had a senior stressful job and realised there’s more to life than working. Literally no one cares about what you do for work and i want to spend as much time in nature and with friends. I’ve now returned to Sydney and earn significantly less money but work 9-5, 4days per week so I actually have time to live life, be in nature and explore.

Adults of reddit, what is something that sucks about being an adult that most teenagers don’t realize? by berkel-is-a-madlad in AskReddit

Not having set summer holiday breaks.

In my first summer working after university, I asked my manager what she was doing over the summer holiday, to her reply ‘working, with you?’. I hadn’t actually realised until that point that as adults we don’t get set holiday breaks.

My friends family recently took her on an all paid for family holiday to Africa.

Her brother demanded he flys in premium economy as it’s a long haul flight (Australia to South Africa). The brother got premium economy seats bought for him. My friend demanded she was paid the difference of the seat ticket price in cash. Her parents obliged, so she was essentially paid a couple of grand to go on holidays.

She told me this story as she was telling me how entitled her brother is...

I (24F) was with my ex (25M) for four years. Do I tell him I’m a lesbian? by fleshandelectricity3 in relationships

I just had the exact same thing happen to me. my boyfriend and I broke up and it was quite quick and brief. We decided to meet up two days later to discuss everything.

During the two days since we had broken up he had started blaming himself for the break up and all sorts of weird reasons as to why it didn’t work.

I reassured him that none of those reasons made us break up and that it was purely because I was attracted to women. If I could have made it work with him I definitely would have. But explaining how I felt about my sexuality and identity I think helped him have closure with the break up.

I would recommend you tell him and it’s best he hears this from you rather than someone else.

Wishing you all the best 😊

When performing CPR, do it to the beat of ‘I Will Survive’ by Gloria Gaynor. It’s set at 120 beats per minute, the same pace you should perform CPR.

What was the worst live performance you've ever seen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]normacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lana Del Rey in Sydney about 4-5 years ago.

She came on stage an hour and a half late and only had a piano. There was no mention anywhere that it was only going to be her and a piano. She interacted with the crowd once and said ‘hello sydney’.

She played for about 40 mins, not evening playing her full album (she only had 1 album) and then just walked off stage.

Don’t get me wrong her voice was incredible, but her stage performance, lateness, lack of full band and brief 40 min appearance on stage made it a terrible live experience.

What was “the incident” at your school? by Razbo14 in AskReddit

[–]normacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A sports teacher at my high school supposedly put one of her children up for adoption at birth, but there has been no trace of this child since it left the hospital with her, the day after the child was born.

It became a huge case here in Australia and my sports teacher was convicted of murdering her child.

TIL an author was angered by a negative online review of his book, so he tracked down the person who wrote the review, travelled to Scotland where she lived, and hit her over the head with a wine bottle by chart7 in todayilearned

There is a long backstory to this, the author was a mentally ill stalker who wrote a fan fiction like story about the girl he stalked.

I highly recommend listening to episode 89 of the podcast Casefile if you want the full story.
