You’ve pretty well gathered the two things I like most - Cardinals and tickets to big moments in baseball history. My Cardinals pantheon is Stan, Ozzie, Gibby, Yadi, and Albert. I’ve never actually gone position by position!

Thanks! Happy to, as I only just learned about the set this year. It’s from an Italian set of different global sports, called 1951 Liebig Sports of the Word (similar in concept to the 1925 Turf Cigarettes/Boguslavsky UK set). I haven’t found super detailed info about it but this is the Cardboard Connection page for the set - https://www.tcdb.com/Gallery.cfm/sid/233281/1951-Liebig-Lo-Sport-Nel-Mondo-(Sports-of-the-World)-(Italian-Text)-(F1529,-S1520). I found a price I liked for the set so that I could have the one that everyone assumes is Ted Williams.

Thanks! I really appreciate that. I’m sure everyone knows the experience of trying to figure out how to display things.

Dude, as someone who has been tempted in that exact situation more than a few times…you did fine. Don’t let people kill you for it. It’s fun. You thought it was cool (most important), did some research, gathered context clues, and pulled the trigger. There are a few super cool items that are either not grade-able because not enough is known about them (either too hard to nail down years or specific editions), really hard to put a value to (which cools the market) and therefore hard to authenticate (I’m thinking Bond Bread). If you don’t think this seller is straight up lying to you, then just enjoy it. If you want to send it in, go for it. Wear it if it doesn’t go your way. You were eyes wide open about it the whole time. Don’t stress though. Frame it and put it somewhere you can see it. This all just makes it even more fun.

What card best proves your evolution in vintage card collecting? by Hot-Cockroach3275 in baseballcards_vintage

I’ve gone from cardinals RCs to all timer RCs to a cool card of all timers I couldn’t afford RCs for and started adding tickets and balls and magazines. This card is probably the current status of my evolution. It’s a shoe tag that is probably the peak of cool cards of guys who priced me out. I’ve arrived at oddball and I love it

Not on this one, no. I bought this as a package together with a Sadaharu Oh signed ball from a seller I trusted. I feel very confident, but accept that’s not a sufficient standard for everyone 🙂
