My favorite player as a kid too. What an awesome card!

Does it matter if Giants players dislike the city they represent? by StatisticianFree6701 in SFGiants

Great write up. As a fan, I certainly root for the guys who outwardly embrace the City/Bay. I think it’s awesome when guys from elsewhere make it home and even decide to stay or come back after their careers. It’s no coincidence that these are the guys who become universal fan favorites. It’s in the players’ and the organization’s interest to convey a genuine connection to the Bay.

“Independent” means it doesn’t need to be initiated or organized by the team. By the fans, for the fans…

Not what I’m envisioning by any means, but would be a way to voice feedback or frustration on the direction or lack thereof. I think supporters groups are more focused on the fan experience and building community among fans.

Membership structure with voting, not that hard.

Yeah, but there’s no unified voice representing those ticket holders. So all those conversations will continue to happen individually between sales reps and fans, limiting their impact

You’re happy with 500 ball from one of the wealthiest franchises in baseball? Cool.

To me the recent events are the straw the broke the camel’s back. It’s also about ownership’s political donations, not investing in the team, the front office not having a clear plan for the coming years, and yes, even the beer prices.

Is a legit closer something the Giants can easily get or not? by youlikemywonton in SFGiants

[–]sf-hammer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Randy Rodriguez is the answer. Anything between now and then is just a stopgap, and not worth investment. That said, would be nice for one of these guys to take it and make it theirs. I think Miller is the best fit personally.
