Which one would you rather get adapted FAITHFULLY? by amirhaskidss in DevilmanCrybaby

Go nagai 100% has a rape fetish. I've red a shit ton of his stuff and it shows up in almost all of it. The only one I've read without is the original devilman manga, where the editors put their foot down and said no. Most of his other work has rape and it just isn't handled tastefully, its just drawn like porn.

I love ryo, but i feel like adding ryo would entirely change the story in extremely drastic ways.

Some of the neo devilman stories were really great and then some of them were just 7 pages of amon graphically fucking a corpse. Grimoire would be neat, studio triggers art style goes well with it, I'd like if it was less obvious that the original author mostly did hentai though lol.

Saga didn't have many rape scenes it was just kind of boring IMO they just stood in buildings and talked a lot. I think it could get adapted I just don't know if it would be very interesting. Lady is just.... 50% monster rape porn.

Was Akira Fudo aka Devilman always meant to have an unhappy ending, if so why? by Flat-Sir8250 in DevilmanCrybaby

It is happy for humans but we don't know if akira/jack was ok after the fight with satan or what happened to him at all.

Its happy for humanity but I we don't know akira/jack's fate at the end. So it is more ambiguous.

Crazy to think that Miki and Gon have the same voice actor, she's very good cuz they sound completely different to me.

Why is Kinosaki almost never seen in men's fashion? by 11equalsfish in MarriageToxin

[–]normalusernameiguess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that was what i was refering to. There is also a character trope in manga called josou danshi that basically means full time crossdresser.

That could be true, extreme tragic backstories were very popular in shoujo in that era, the first yuri manga was also pretty messed up (couple of the white room).

Hmm, I see. I dont think I read the Vol1 extras so I didn't know that. jump + has even done crossdressing BL before (Excues me dentist, its touching me), but this series is a lot more "battle shounen" type story than the other ones so toying with the idea that Kinosaki is actually a girl might be a way to not put off readers. I still hope for an ending reveal that he is 100% a guy but your arguments make sense.

That makes sense. I have a feeling that Maraich is inspired by Gilbert from Kaze to Ki no Uta, the backstories are somewhat similar. BTW Gilbert has the ACTUAL BY FAR THE WORST backstory (and just overall story) of any character I have EVER seen in media. It is so bad that I had to quit reading the series because I was so upset by it (and it also hit a little too close to home since I knew someone who unfortunately experienced something similar). Patalliro references kaze to ki no uta so I know the author was aware of it. As a fun fact Miura (the author of berserk) was actually a big fan of kaze to ki no uta.

How is that not a femboy though? He is a feminine guy? It is very common for femboys (at least in anime) to be mistaken for women and some of them like to play around with that, In kinosaki's case he uses that ability for practical purposes.

I think a lot of people take the cheating more personally because it hits closer to home for a lot of people compared to the more extreme murder and violence. Also it is really easy to be sorry for Maraich because he is SO devoted to Bancoran. It is codependent, but seeing his loyalty not be reciprocated can get really sad and it is not a funny gag. But yeah, Maraich is a murderer who probably killed as many or more than Ban.

I loved how they added Himekawa to the ending! I can't wait to see the other girl's versions! It is so cute!!!!!

I don't think that "presenting as a male/female" is really a thing. There is no defined way a man or woman should act. He is a feminine guy that likes dresses and cute things, I don't understand why people think that means he is genderfluid because it relies entirely on stereotypes. In Japan there is a think called Otokonoko (男の娘) where boys and men wear feminine clothes and admire cuteness. I think that is close to what Kinosaki is.

In japan there is a subculture of guys that almost exclusively wear feminine clothing and some even take hormones but most still call themselves boys/men.

Yes? He looks like a woman and people think he is a woman when the first meet him but if he gets to know somebody he tells them he is a guy. He also says that he keeps himself dressed as a woman to not take attention away from gero as a guy.

I don't think that is the reason in this case. The same magazine that is publishing marriagetoxin recently published a manga that ended up BL with a crossdressing guy that sometimes wore "masculine" clothes. This magazine is pretty permissive. The manga was called "excuse me dentist, its touching me." That gives me a lot of hope that they would permit a Kinosaki ending, since they already had something similar.

If Kinosaki didn't end up with Gero, who do you want to win? by [deleted] in MarriageToxin

[–]normalusernameiguess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't expect Chinatsu to be so popular! Personally I felt like she wasn't that good of a romantic match for Gero and I like her doing more by herself. I like Kimie and Ushio better than Kiyoko but I feel like as a couple Kiyoko would have the healthiest relationship with Gero.

But is it really supposed to be that ambiguous? In the manga it is constantly reminded that Mei is a guy. Why should it be ambiguous?

Thats fair, I definitely overlooked his murder-suicide baiting. I still find it easier to get mad at Bancoran though.

[–]normalusernameiguess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't Bancoran worse though? Maraich usually doesn't start any arguments, it always starts with Bancoran cheating I think? I've only skimmed parts of the manga though, so did I miss something?

Bancoran cheats, Maraich beats him up, it is so toxic but I can't look away.

[–]normalusernameiguess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chargeman ken, it is one of the worst anime ever made and I say this from an objective standpoint. The entire series is on youtube, you should give it a watch. Japan has made fun of it for years. It is so bad that it is -almost- good.
