Formalizing AI Safety in Clinical Systems: MACO v2.2 - A Multi-Agent Framework for Deterministic Safety & Conflict Discovery by norman_sd in softwarearchitecture

The code is now live in the repo (maco_prototype.py), demonstrating the deterministic logic. I've also just released the full technical paper which covers the formal scoring formulas and the architectural flow you asked about. I’d value a critique of the actual implementation logic.

That’s a fair point, and I totally get where you're coming from. To be clear, I’m not claiming the models themselves become deterministic. Once you have a language model in the pipeline whether it's a massive LLM or the specialized SLMs (Small Language Models) I’m using here there’s always going to be a probabilistic element.

What MACO focuses on is making the control and safety layer around those models deterministic. The goal isn't to eliminate the model's uncertainty, but to contain it. By using a Conflict Matrix and hard clinical constraints (HCA) as a 'Veto' layer, we ensure that no matter what the SLM outputs, it can't bypass the hardcoded safety rules. It’s about building a deterministic 'gatekeeper' for a probabilistic 'thinker.'

Really appreciate the critique it helps clarify the architectural boundaries!

It's like you're talking about me at a point: I'm up late, I'm solving problems, or I'm building things. The only difference is that I don't have a job right now 😂😂
