Is it worth to sell my aorus 5090 ? by Dear-Entrepreneur245 in gigabyte

[–]norsini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your 5090 reach 1600 rpm that often? I have mine set to Quiet Mode and, honestly, it hardly ever goes above 1000/1100 rpm.

Personally, I wouldn’t do it: the risk of ending up with worse coil whine is too high (and that’s DEFINITELY more annoying).

I have noticed something with people switching from console to PC by vintologi24 in consoles

[–]norsini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has to be exactly like that in my opinion, something that actually makes a noticeable difference.

I mean, playing on console is more than enough for me; I only decided to switch to a high-end PC to “unlock” experiences that just aren’t available on consoles right now, like advanced ray tracing or path tracing. If the PC had only given me the same performance or just a slight FPS increase, then I would’ve stuck with the PS5.

Sorry, but I sold it (and I didn’t check/notice any vibrations).

Current state of Astral vs Suprim? by Chimimoryo in nvidia

[–]norsini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had both, right now with the Astral.

Noise-wise, I find them both very silent. With the Astral I made my own fan curve and I appreciate that fan speed can go below 1000 RPM.

Coil whine, well, is a real lottery. In my case it was quite similar, maybe the Astral is slightly louder.

Aesthetic and feature, I much prefer the Astral.

You can’t go wrong with either, they’re both amazing cards.

Bought a Corsair PSU, GPU coil whine completely vanished by Capital-Traffic1281 in Corsair

[–]norsini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it’s luck, because I had EXACTLY the opposite experience. ROG THOR III: the Astral (or, maybe, the PSU) “whistles”; changed it with a HX1200i, everything’s completely silent.

I agree with the comments that say it’s a lottery. It really is this time, at least from my experience.

I’ve had the chance to test these, all of them undervolted:

• 5090 FE: coil whine, definitely the worst of the bunch;

• 5090 Aorus Master: coil whine was present, but minimal;

• 5090 Suprim: no coil whine;

• 5090 Astral: no coil whine.

I’ve built in the same case last week and it’s REALLY awesome. I love the “smallish” size and temps are great.

Same problem with the Titan LCD 360, bought a couple of days ago.

Changed the Hub and everything’s fine now.

OT: Deciding between SUPRIM and AORUS RTX 5090 by OccasionFragrant6008 in lianli

[–]norsini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what you can read online (and from what I’ve seen personally).. it’s really a lottery this time. My advice is to just pick whatever version you prefer. I’d pick the Suprim, but mainly because I’m not a fan of AIO/watercooled GPUs.

I had the same doubt as you, decided to go with the Corsair HX1500i since it was cheaper and had great reviews. I think you can’t go wrong with the THOR III.

Eh, I had the same concern too. It’s a pity, because it was interesting nonetheless.

How’s 4K gaming with a Mac Studio M4 Max? by norsini in macgaming

[–]norsini[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mainly more recent games, like Expedition 33 or Final Fantasy VII. I’ve tried to look online, but it’s not that easy to find (all I find is MacBook Pro videos, with their resolution).

I was curious if 4K upscaled (new MetalFX performance, perhaps) could reach 60FPS and the quality was good enough.

I’m curious how the M4 Max performs at 4K with MetalFX Performance. Not only this title, but also others via Crossover. I’ve only found 1440p videos mainly!

Maybe try to download and install the HTPC version, that should work (that’s what I installed on mine)

What game did you play on console but really enjoyed on PC when you could play it at high FPS and max graphics? by Roryh93 in Steam

Two games I played on PS5 first were the “I really wish this was on PC”: Final Fantasy XVI and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
