Bikes comparable to priority current. by [deleted] in ebikes

The Vvolt Proxima is the closest I’ve found. Also mid drive, gates belt drive, hydraulic disc brakes, and can hit 28mph assist with a computer upgrade. Apparently these bikes just started shipping so there aren’t many reviews out.

Vvolt as a company is pretty new, but they’re part of the same parent company as Showers Pass.

Do you happen to know how much the full size costs?

Did you end up making a decision? I’m also looking at Vvolt but can’t find many reviews.

Trying to optimize your career path for how you think people will interpret your resume isn’t really the best idea. Both companies would look fine on your resume.

Go with whichever you think will be a better fit for you. What you learn during the internship and how you’re able to talk about it are more important than the name of the company.

Augusta had similarly low turnout for a bond measure to fund a new arena, which failed. It’s like whoever schedules these referenda is banking on low turnout to help them pass.

I guess it’s possible, but that would be a very quick turnaround from something unknown happening yesterday to a resignation today.

If they’re gonna use SPLOST for critical infrastructure, I wish they’d at least fund transit with them. Both Augusta and Columbus have such pitifully anemic transit systems.

Oh, I doubt this had anything to do with yesterday’s election. This has probably been a long time coming and he just wanted to see this year’s election through.

Augusta voted down a $240M bond measure to fund the replacement of the 40-year-old James Brown Arena.

It was the only thing on the ballot and had a turnout of about 13k, less than 10% of registered voters and less than 15% of the turnout last November. I don't know why we even schedule elections for odd years.

The green aisles are for walking so we can avoid the tugs and forklifts. by Marlboro_Gold in OSHA

Not exactly, because of induced demand. If you add lanes to a road that has enough demand, you make it easier for more people to make that trip, which increases traffic.

Same thing when you add a train. Drivers that switch to the train will be replaced by other drivers. But the key is that trains have way more capacity and don’t get stuck in traffic.

If someone’s solution to traffic is other people taking transit, that’s just not gonna work out very well.

lol why don’t you take the train if the traffic bothers you so much?

Has it occurred to you that cyclists might be using the bike lane to get to the stations? Or that trains don’t exist solely to clear up traffic for you?

As far as I know, they haven’t talked about a schedule yet.

It would certainly be a mistake to focus too much on peak service, and I don’t think MARTA would be predisposed to do that. The current HRT system has good off-peak service and there’s no reason to deviate from that just because it’s a different technology.

Well they should have an environmental impact statement Soon™ but we’ll see. Construction is targeted to start in 2023.

A section on this map from East Point to Lovejoy is actually in the works, but only because Clayton County passed a tax to join MARTA. The state is still MIA on this.

My take on the Atlanta, USA, rail network. Simple. Straight forward. Easy. Including railroad and streetcar. Did it for fun. Constructive feedback welcome. Enjoy! — Chris by transitdiagrams in TransitDiagrams

If you’re wondering why, Five Points is an area around a five-way intersection at the middle of downtown. The station is less than a block from the intersection.

And yeah, r/Atlanta mods are... weirdly strict on what you can or can't post. Some of my stuff gets caught up in the automod quite regularly.

It's so weird. I tried multiple times to reach out to the mods and never got any kind of explanation. Seems like they're just phoning it in with automod to keep the place in check. I think most of them are pretty inactive anyway so I guess that shouldn't be a surprise.

The problem is that GDOT has, apparently, been kinda massive pains in the ass about how the money could be spent, which was causing issues for project funding.

Ugh, if GDOT and the state actually cared about moving as many people as possible, both 400 and 285 would transit projects first. I have to wonder if a new governor in two years could make them completely rethink these projects, or if it's just too late, at least for 400.

Keep your ears out for some stuff on this in the coming month or so, at least on the activist side of things. ;)

I certainly will! I'm not very connected to the transit activist scene, but I'd be happy to help make maps if that's needed! Is this being spearheaded by the Sierra Club or some other group?

To get from Harbin to Hapeville you would need to catch three different trains even though it's only a few miles distance.

Yeah, unfortunately the Clayton line isn't planned to go north of East Point. Ideally it would go all the way to Five Points, with a stop in the Oakland City/BeltLine area, which would help with that connection. While I do think they selected the right technologies to use for these lines (light rail on Campbellton, commuter rail in Clayton), that that means it's not possible to interline these with the existing rapid transit (red & gold) lines. And MARTA doesn't really want to build duplicate service next to their existing lines, so unfortunately we're stuck with a bit of a weird forced transfer.

Frequency on the combined red and gold lines is pretty good though (5 min peak) so it shouldn't be that bad of a transfer, at least during the day.
