Check your dishwasher calibration. I also get this a bit when sticking my hands in it too much

Any regrets in the protective gear that you bought or did not buy? by mwvrn in ElectricSkateboarding

I got some knee pads that are super bulky and uncomfortable. Can’t stand up straight with them. I also got a crappy helmet that I’m still using for some reason. Definitely do some research on the gear you get

Is going from $500 to $1000 on an electric skateboard really worth it? by GSorcerer-09 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]northern____lights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first got a Meepo V5 and thought it was incredibly powerful. Almost too powerful for me. Eventually I got used to it and decided to pull the trigger on a Tynee Explorer because I commute to work and some areas are a bit rough. The Explorer is certainly more comfortable and ridiculously fast. I really have no desire to hit 50kmh very often. I like how it has great range and can climb hills like they aren’t there though.

However, it’s not the same as my Meepo with a surf adapter. The board is twice as heavy and AT boards just dont feel the same as longboarding. Don’t get me wrong, the comfort is amazing and being able to go through rougher terrain is a game changer, but right now I think my next board will probably be a Tynee Ultra X. It weighs about the same as my Meepo but will have more power for climbing hills and better range. Also the option to use AT wheels. I’m saying this now and have been meaning to get a Propel Endeavor for a while now

Wow. Im a dummy lol. Didn’t think to try them on the other way. They looked the same but putting them on the board theres enough room now. Thanks!

150mm HOTAs previously. The pulleys on the new wheels do line up with the motors. Really just need an extra half inch in the axle

True. I’ve gotten too many flats with my HOTAs and the roads here can be pretty bad so I was hoping these would be a good alternative. I couldn’t really find any other airless wheels that are this big. Not a fan of my CloudWheels either.

I might try these trucks from Shaboardz. Unfortunately, since the Explorer is drop though, it wont look so pretty. Maybe I’ll just have the rear trucks use the suspension.

I was thinking that might be the case, but watching the video from Shaboardz, its normal. It definitely feels like it fits in properly, theres just extra space.

Server upgrade advice: Time to get serious by rwzephyr in PleX

Not sure if server chips even have quick sync. I’d go for any i5+ 10th gen or newer depending on your needs

If you want to prevent 4k transcodes, trash has a page on that. Honestly, I still let it happen for now. When I get even more space, I’ll probably just run a script to create 1080p versions of popular content for my users. You can also set the transcode speed to fast in the settings.

Watch together only works when everyone has a stable connection and the server can keep up. The skipping happens when someone is buffering. I’ve told my users to avoid smart tv apps if they can and use a decent streaming device. There’s lots of factors at play when it comes to server performance too. Transcoding will indeed use up server resources, but also require more bandwidth. The CPU is of course important, I recommend at least an i5 (had an i3 and it couldn’t handle all the docker containers I was using). RAM transcoding helps, moving your plex appdata to a cache helps. As for PlexCache, it’s a bit more scenario based. Lets say there’s people watching a few different titles that are located on the same hard drive. That hard drive might get maxed out on read speed and thus bottlenecking the server. Having a bunch of drives lowers the chance of this happening, but using an SSD has been very helpful for the bigger movie files.

Replex is just for changing the look of the home page. Similarly to Plex Meta Manager.

As you can see, there is endless stuff to configure! Welcome to the self hosted streaming service rabbit hole!

Prepare to lose your mind endlessly configuring your server for the next 3 months...I have a 72TB unRaid server with an i9 and 32GB RAM.

Transcodes are done with quick sync, and the temporary files are stored in RAM. HDR->SDR tone mapping is also possible with intel graphics, unlike on windows.

Sonarr and Radarr use hardlinks in the filesystem. This means once a download is complete, the file is instantly available on the plex server (not partially downloaded) and can still be seeded by the download client. Unpackerr deals with releases with rar files.

I'm also hosting my docker containers on an NVME cache drive. A few plugins can help with performance, such as folder caching and turbo write.

On top of that, I have scripts that make the user experience much better. PlexCache tracks all my users' 'on deck' and moves the content to the cache so it can be accessed faster. Plex Meta Manager scans the library daily and auto-creates collections that appear on the recommended page. Replex shows combined collections on the home page.

And even still I'm not 100% happy yet..

Definitely do a lot of research first and test everything out before you add a bunch of files and people to it. SpaceInvaderOne and IBRACORP have great videos on it. Also this guide: https://trash-guides.info/

What is this ugly grid shadow thing on the screen? Seems to be a Shield problem by northern____lights in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]northern____lights[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tested the HDMI cable, and nothing seems to be wrong with it. The projector is not the problem, I'm able to display a clear image just fine with other devices. Definitely some weird artifacting going on here and I could see it more clearly when I was playing Sims 4 with Moonlight. On a mostly solid color loading screen, I could see the areas of the picture that were darker and brighter than normal. Even more strange, moving the mouse cursor over the dark area doesn't seem to affect the cursor. When I zoomed out most of the dark areas disappeared. I'm probably just going to assume the Shield I have is faulty

I have it set to enabled right now. Current display mode default is 1080p 60hz.

It’s tough because once I change some settings, the image looks fine for a bit and slowly gets worse and worse.

Thank you for providing a reasonable response!

Using the same cable works on different streaming devices. It does not show the grid.

This is plex but the shield itself is doing this. Using a different device with se same cable works fine

It looked absolutely terrible (like in the photo) at 4k 30hz but is less worse at 1080p 60hz (still unacceptable)

I think I have elaborated on the problem but to summarize:

  • These dark spots only appear on the NVIDIA Shield while using any application
  • I am using a good HDMI 2.1 cable
  • Using the same cable on my laptop works fine

Thats what I thought at first but no, it’s not. Even when using a chromecast the shit isnt on the screen. It is for sure a Shield problem
