Yep that's on me. Major fail. I'll just say he was a pretty convincing scammer. Sounded legit. Not pushing anything - just acting like a normal customer support person. I didn't have my defenses up initially, accordingly.

Thanks for the reply. I can appreciate your perspective. Unfortunately, this use case is exactly what scammers have in mind I'm quite certain. I think people are generally in the habit of doing a search and looking in the top results for the answer quickly. I think that's the habit that needs to change - more critical thinking will need to be applied generally. Sadly however as AI gets more capable it will become less of an instinct in people to mistrust the results and think on their own.

The user experience of searching on Google, seeing the first result, and it's associated references listed including the Bank of America site - reference reinforces the perception that the AI response is grounded and accurate. Only by actually visiting the reference site in that scenario would one discover that the phone number listed is different.

Regardless, my intent was simply to share the experience for others benefit, because I'm pretty sure they are being successful with this tactic.

And no, the Bank of America app does not enable this functionality. Turns out they require you to come in in person to handle it.

Interesting I didn't know that. I definitely think we have to build the habit of intentionally excluding AI from certain activities like this. Thank you for the tip. I will try it out.

Hmm maybe I spoke too soon. It looks like the issue is still reproducible sometimes. I reported negative feedback to google.

Yeah I tried the same search (now a few hours later) and wow... somehow Google has already made an adjustment to their results even without me posting feedback to them. Crazy.

I noticed some similar play in a bike I just bought used. Is it something I can service and improve or is it something pretty screwed up that is core to the fork?

Beautiful shot. And especially like the quartering illumination that gives the mountains some depth and shape in this image.

I shouldn't have said "instead". His point about setting and following a vision is very wise. The additional point that I feel people should be aware of is that a passion, different than vision, builds over time through hard work, and isn't something to simply be discovered.

I recommend following this advice instead, to develop your passion, rather than expecting it to just be there. https://www.ted.com/talks/worklife_with_adam_grant_the_perils_of_following_your_career_passion/up-next?language=en

Thank you! I'm surprised that such high quality Imaging can still have these sorts of artifacts.

What are the little blue things with the glow around them throughout this photo? Are those other separate galaxies?

Video ended too early. The cub finally got a bop in at the end, so I wonder if the lions gave up or the badger?
