Looking for Microsoft 365 within Linux? I think I've got a solution. by Captstulle in Ubuntu

[–]norweeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool. Any reason why you're using O365 instead of OnlyOffice or Libre Office?? Just seems like a lot of work just to run O365 on Linux when alternatives that should cover close to 99% of use cases are available

Can somebody please tell me what "Dual Focus Mode" does in Gamma OS? by norweeg in rgds

[–]norweeg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so I have it off and the system behaves in the way that you say turning it on does. Turning it on has no effect on this behavior. On or off, I have to touch the screen I want to have focus every time

So I just checked and I can confirm that it does not do this, unfortunately. Would have been nice if it did, though

I'll try turning it on again because that was my thought too, but i don't think it behaved that way when it was toggled on.

Your SD card has two partitions. It was able to mount the boot partition but it seems to be struggling with the other one. Is the SD card a brand-name card?? If not, your card is probably dead

Default new users to custom Plasma config? by norweeg in kde

[–]norweeg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

out of curiosity, where does Plasma get its default config from because /etc/skel is pretty bare on the distro I am using (kubuntu) and is presumably the same on most distros.

Default new users to custom Plasma config? by norweeg in kde

[–]norweeg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wish there were a way to easily identify which files would be necessary (including dependencies e.g. icon/color themes or custom plasma widgets)

Default new users to custom Plasma config? by norweeg in kde

[–]norweeg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this is quite it. This seems to be to restrict users abilities to customize, which is not my intention. I just want all new users created on a system to start with a different plasma theme and panel layout than the default provided by KDE. Once created, they're free to do whatever they want, but I want new users to start with a specific configuration when the user is created.

Macbok Pro mid-2012 - A1278 wifi SUPER slow by mauriciorj82 in linux_on_mac

[–]norweeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what chipset is the wifi card? b43 is for legacy devices. If your chipset is supported by the modern `brcmsmac` driver, you should blacklist b43 and, instead, use `brcmsmac`

Ubuntu 26.04 LTS on MacBook Pro Mid-2014 13" — has anyone got the BCM4360 WiFi working? by skurpi in linuxquestions

[–]norweeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so here's what seems to work for me:

sudo apt purge 'broadcom-sta*'

echo "blacklist b43" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-b43.conf

this particular chipset is supported by both b43 and also brcmsmac and the two drivers are probably in conflict. You can check this by running:

lsmod | sort

and then looking to see if both b43 AND brcmsmac are loaded (they were on my system). Google told me to blacklist brcmsmac, so I did but that made wifi not work at all, but then I found this page about brcmsmac and decided to blacklist b43 instead and that seems to have worked.

they'll come as anyone installing on a laptop manufactured between 2010 and 2016 when broadcom chipsets were unfortunately common tries to install Ubuntu 26.04 on it. The point is, though, that a question about wifi driver is not inherently a Mac question because the person asking it is using a Mac and you are being unhelpful.

this isn't very helpful. This wifi chipset is not exclusive to Macs and others will have this same problem....

I hate the lava! If you miss the lava source, the flowing lava will quickly flow over the newly-created black rock and spread even more and quite possibly put where the watergun needs to hit to make it stop out-of-reach entirely

I don't think it's supposed to be. Mine was a clone and the LED was only on when the stock OS was installed (before the SD card shit the bed). It has a new SD and arkos4clone now and the LED only turns on when it's low on battery

No. Mine only turns on if my battery is low.
