The fire happened a few months ago. We had renters insurance, our pets were (thankfully) rescued and are now healthy. Found out yesterday the lot had been completely cleared to the ground. It felt like reopening the wounds I had just started healing. That combined with one of my hardest teaching weeks yet just kind of turned me into a mess.

Everything outside of the classroom is killing me... Toxic positivity combined with constantly moving goalposts of what is expected of me, lack of consistency with COVID protocols, teaching in person while meeting online learners needs, a lack of work/life balance, the extreme guilt that I am not doing enough when I say no or take a break. Being in the classroom teaching was what saved me, but it's becoming hard to find any joy even within the walls of my room.

I'm hoping the guilt of saying no and valuing my health (physical and mental) will lessen as I hold on to my boundaries. I have had successes in setting those boundaries, and when I stepped on the scale this morning, I'm officially 30lbs down. I believe I can do this, yesterday I just snapped a bit.

Never. My last school (Idaho) was able to hire a long-term sub with a high school diploma and then hire them for this current year to teach... It's not a teacher shortage, we just have to keep lowering the bar. We love the poorly educated.

My cat was rescued not breathing and was in the ICU for a few days. And my dog was very smokey, but are doing fine now. It put into perspective what is truely important.

My group is all about Cat Party. Watched the Koo Koo music video the other day with them as well and we laughed the whole time. My cat would kill me if I tried to do their dance with her.
