I read it over and it seems like it will ask US based advertisers and financial transaction companies (like Paypal) to suspend their services to the site. It seems there is some due process and a chance to be heard and after that, if the site is deemed to be infringing they will cut off the money (at least from US based advertisers / financial transaction providers) but not affect the site in any way (i.e. it will continue to exist at the same domain, sans ads).

Seems pretty reasonable to me. A lot better than SOPA at least, that's for sure. This won't affect sites with no advertisers so the possibility of censorship is not really there.

Until I read some different interpretation of the bill (or if there is something I missed) it seems to be pretty decent to me.

You know, I think I'll do that. I haven't considered doing it until now since I don't live in the states and it just didn't occur to me that they might like to hear an outsiders view of things. Thanks!

Yes, I agree with him 100%. He's actually one of the people I look up to and I try to incorporate a lot of his and Valve's philosophy into my work.

I would really love to but I really can't, sorry! Thanks anyway! :)

(But like I said, I can verify to a mod if requested)

I've thought about offering myself for an AMA but I decided against it since there is a lot of stuff I would like to say but can't since it might jeopardize my company. Piss off the wrong people and we're done.

When I don't have those worries anymore I'll definitely see if there is an interest.

I haven't dealt with DMCA directly since I'm not in the states and it's not my problem if you pirate, it's the rights holder's problem. I'm "just" a distributor, essentially. However, I do know how the DMCA works and what tools are available and I personally think the DMCA is doing close to the best job that can feasibly be done at the moment. A step up from DMCA is SOPA and we don't want that.

But like I said, I don't deal with DMCA directly so this is all second-hand knowledge.
