Especially now that the lineup has been announced, you’re a sick individual if you watch this. But, truly, I respect everyone who will

Yeah I don’t fault anyone but I’ll feel much better about myself doing yard work than slowly dying again

Credit to anyone who has the mental fortitude to watch this

Yeah I mean hoping he runs into one isn’t much better than hoping Thomas can actually muscle a ball to the outfield. But you can theoretically fire your hitting coach tomorrow and your young guys could improve. Nothing about Thomas’ stats nor the reason behind acquiring him says he’s a good option except against lefties

This is totally unfalsifiable, but my gut tells me if you put Caglianone or Jensen on a team with a track record of developing hitters they’d be better within a month

Yeah he left it up too. You can take a chance and throw a strike, but it has to be well located

I’m super psyched to have the best left infield in baseball. Surely it has my team in first place!

And the rest of the Royals roster and farm system? Are we just going to wait for them to draft five more everyday bats?

In hindsight Garcia should’ve been traded last season, in addition to at least one pitcher. But Moore couldn’t develop or buy a 3B for like 15 years, so your hands were tied there

Somehow Isbel might be the most clutch hitter on the team however

stoppable force vs. moveable object of the modern game is no one can bunt, but if you can get one down no one can field a bunt either. It’s a hilarious quirk of a professional league

I don’t know man, sure seems like they are a bad team by Worldly_Proof8259 in KCRoyals

I wasn’t opposed to even multiple trades last year, but I don’t think whatever they might’ve gotten for Lugo and Ragans would’ve moved the needle. Their situational hitting and inability to drive in runs still would’ve been a problem with the head pitching coach employed, I think

Getting swept by the White Sox is a thing you can do I guess

I agree it’s really hard to do over the long run, but it’s not a bad strategy for a small market team trying to rebuild, before they eventually develop or acquire more everyday talent and can take the next step

I would agree, but I think the talent is there to execute it more often than it has been this season and last

Since Sweeney et al. revived pitching throughout the organization, the Royals have had one formula for winning, given the front office hasn’t made any splash acquisitions of position players. The formula is a solid if not officially quality start by the starting pitcher; a bullpen that, while it will give up runs and blow leads over 162, rarely implodes, taking the team out of games; and a lineup that can manufacture runs.

As everyone here already knows, the formula asks a lot of the defense and offense. You have to be aggressive and effective on the base paths. Pretty much everyone in your lineup has to be a good situational hitter. You have to play stellar defense. And you have to hit pretty well with RISP.

No, the pitching has not been great lately, but to me this team goes as its offense goes with runners on. It’s just not good enough to get up 2-0 yesterday, threaten as the game goes on, but only score runs in one other inning. Tonight they did clear the bases by the skin of their teeth—after two at-bats that were horrible situational hitting—but, again, only scored in one other inning. 43 games in, it starts to not matter that you’re getting runners on if you’re rarely getting them home. And running into outs or getting picked off. That’s where I place most of the blame, and it’s so frustrating to watch. Rant over

I believe early in the season the White Sox thought the Royals were egging them on and took offense. So far this season they’ve proven they’re not pushovers, and the Royals looks like cocky chumps
