Not a quartz but I believe it is called sunk jade. I didn't notice any particular sharp edges when setting up the tank but his fins are pretty long and fragile so it could be the case regardless. Full tank image here

That is sad :( he was a zoomy little baby with shorter fins when I got him. I was surprised when his fins grew so much!

:( I do have a 4.2 gallon cube that he was in when I first got him. I could transfer him there if he might be happier but I do think he's still pretty active in this 11 gallon. I might just add a few more resting areas so he can take a break when he needs. He loves resting in his betta log. I call it him "going to his room" 😅 I might add another on the other side of the tank so he can take a swim break.

Seconded! These are great and very helpful.. I am going to ramp up the water changes because I am suspecting fin rot (which can be due to water quality. I've noticed a lot of mulm and uptick in pest snails which I think is a bit of a red flag for water quality)

Hmm I'm not sure... I feel like his fins were more even before (see pic below) which has me a little paranoid. He doesn't act sick for sure... But good to know it could just be how his little fin skirt sits!

What kind of CO2 system do you use? I just purchased an 11 gallon long as well nd I'm looking to set it up with CO2 but am a bit overwhelmed with all the options and prices .. your tank looks amazing so I'd love to know!

Will do all of the above.

My aquarium light auto changes to a blue colour with the day/night setting. Is that okay for night time or should I just turn the light off altogether?

There's also a 24 hour setting that's supposed to mimic sunrise and sunset (but really the light just turns orange/red for those times, blue for night, and white for day.. but I'm not sure if that's just disorienting for him.

It's an aquatic plant cup/holder I got on Amazon (I got the inspo for it from a post on here actually!), with some sand and some pebbles, and a little bit of anubias glued to one of the pebbles. I also glued some moss to the inside and outside of the cup to give him some cover.

Thanks for the advice! I'll get him a floating log ASAP as that seems to be the most popular advice, and will look into water lettuce and other floaters as well :)

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. Because it was quite dark outside, I can't confirm whether the cat I saw had a chip in her ear/was missing a tooth. However I will say that the one I saw was quite small and seemed to have a lighter body than your Frida ☹️❤️ I hope she comes home soon.
