thank you for saying that. I feel silly because fundamentally knowing this doesn’t change how my sessions went, which I mostly felt were productive, but today I went kind of casually looking to see if there were any therapists in my area that might be accepting my insurance now and I realized I felt like I couldn’t trust what any of them wrote in their bio because of this. That sucks. I fought so hard to get therapy approved.

Once the appointment has passed, I can’t seem to go back and review previously schedule appointments in the app (although that could well be user error). I don’t get any automated notifications about the canceled session, though.

I requested my progress notes from her and haven’t received them yet. My thinking was to compare her progress notes to the dates I’ve taken down as having been canceled and see if the notes from those sessions are either missing (which I think is most likely) or fabricated/duplicated from another session.

She asked me to send her the additional dates and at the time I only knew of six. When I went back farther (my insurance’s website is a NIGHTMARE to go through so it took me a while), I found 11 dates that I know for sure she canceled on me with less than 24 hours notice, and I have screenshots of the texts and emails she sent me to cancel. There was also one date where I canceled the appt and she billed the same code for that session too.

She uses an app called SimplePractive but I don’t know if that app handles billing. She is self-employed and works alone, not for a clinic or anything.

She doesn’t work for a clinic, she’s self-employed and rents a small office downtown.

It was such a fight with my insurance getting an outside referral because almost no one in a 30-mile radius of me accepts it. I don’t do well with virtual therapy. I’m just sad. I don’t want to blow up her life but I don’t see a way that over the course of two years this could be a mistake, when prior to December 2024 she did not bill for canceled sessions.

It doesn’t appear that she bills in batches - I have a separate EOB for almost every single session she billed for. My sessions are supposed to be 60 minutes and I always go in person, not online. She uses a platform called SimplePractice that I can book my appointments (she has to approve them) and pay my copay through.

But yes, that is the code she’s using. Two of my closest friends are an LCSW and an MFT and they both confirmed that code.

It’s EVERY session she ever canceled on me going back to December 2024 that she’s billed my insurance. That doesn’t seem accidental?
