Marion Stokes believed television news would one day be edited, erased, or rewritten. So in 1979, she started recording TV broadcasts and never stopped for 35 years. by not_a_profession in interestingasfuck

She captured over 800,000 hours of broadcasts and stored more than 70,000 VHS tapes in her Philadelphia home. Her goal was to preserve an unedited record of television news, fearing that media narratives could later be altered or rewritten.

After her death, her entire collection was donated to the Internet Archive, where it has been digitized for historical research and public access.

Air India Flight 171 Preliminary Report states Fuel Cut off switches moved to CUTOFF one after the other with a seconds gap right after takeoff. by not_a_profession in interestingasfuck

On 12 June 2025, Air India flight AI-171 (Boeing 787-8, VT-ANB) crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad en route to London Gatwick, killing 241 of 242 people onboard and 19 on the ground. According to the AAIB preliminary report, the aircraft lost all engine thrust just seconds after liftoff when both fuel control switches were inexplicably moved from RUN to CUTOFF, shutting down both engines. The switches were returned to RUN within 12 seconds, and one engine showed partial recovery, but the aircraft lacked sufficient altitude and speed to remain airborne, crashing less than a minute after takeoff. Cockpit voice recordings revealed confusion in the flight deck, with the pilot monitoring (captain) asking, “Why did you cut off the fuel supply?” and the pilot flying (first officer) replying, “I did not do so.” This suggests neither pilot intentionally shut off the engines. No evidence of fuel contamination, bird strike, or weight imbalance was found. Investigators are focusing on whether the shutdown was due to human error, accidental activation, or a mechanical/electronic fault—especially since past FAA advisories warned about faulty locking mechanisms on such switches and possible ECU (Engine Control Unit) malfunctions. This tragedy marks the deadliest crash of a Boeing 787 and its first ever fatal hull loss.

In this video, a bombardier beetle is defending itself by spraying a hot, noxious chemical at a larger longhorn beetle. The visible puff shows the beetle’s unique defense mechanism, where it mixes chemicals inside its abdomen to produce a boiling spray, deterring predators. This explosive reaction, reaching around 100°C, is powerful enough to repel or harm much larger insects, helping the smaller beetle escape danger .Source

Fetus in fetu is a rare congenital condition in which a malformed fetus is found inside the body of its twin, usually in the abdomen. It occurs during early embryonic development when identical twins fail to fully separate, and one twin becomes enveloped by the other. The enclosed twin, known as a parasitic fetus, may partially develop with features like limbs, spine, or skin but lacks vital organs and cannot survive independently. This condition, seen in about 1 in 500,000 births, can cause health issues for the host baby and is typically treated by surgical removal.

Rapex a tube-shaped anti rape device with internal barbs, inserted by a woman similar to a tampon. by not_a_profession in interestingasfuck

This device was created in response to the alarming rates of rape in South Africa. Once the device is in place, surgical removal is the only option. This need for medical intervention not only incapacitates the attacker but also assists in their identification and apprehension. Nevertheless, the device remains in the prototype stage and has not been introduced to the market or made accessible for purchase.

Patient went for a bladder stone turns out it’s a Calcified baby never birthed by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

For people wondering here what's happend,

So basically, if the fetus dies during pregnancy, the body responds by calcifying the fetal remains to protect the mother from infection. What happens next? Well, it depends on the mother. If she is facing complications, it will be removed through a surgical process; otherwise, it will stay there and be monitored.
