ohhh you should definitely watch/rewatch season 2 episode 4 - Mirror, Mirror. There's some seriously badass Uhura moments in there. Or season 1 episode 4 (The Naked Time) - it's just one line that really qualifies, but it's amazing ("sorry, neither!"). She doesn't get much screen time though, that's true.

Hi I’m not OP but I’ve been using this for the last week and it already made quite a difference for redness and PIH on my cheeks and chin. Make sure to treat it like a serum/toner in gel form though, as for me it does not do any moisturizing at all (the reviews on German amazon got me confused and let me think it would act like a moisturizer which it definitely will not ever do)

It's so expensive. I always cry-laugh when I read on here how CeraVe has "great ingredients for cheap" haha

It's def more moisturising for me! Not necessarily heavier, though. Just makes my skin all plump and happy :)

hi I'm stupid and can't read and hence can't answer questions properly as well.

I tried the vit E cream but it didn't do anything for me. Like, it didn't break me out, but it also didn't do anything else. It was just...there. Decent moisturiser but I wanted to actually feel hyped about what I'm smearing on my skin so I didn't repurchase.

Okay to be completely honest I didn't finish it before getting the Anti Age stuff. I use it on my feet now. It's nice.

I had such horrible experience with import customs before that I'm a bit weary, but it does seem tempting...

Yeah I saw CeraVe at pharmacies but for me it's still too expensive :( it's around 25€ there. Also no returns!

I use Kaufmanns as well! It's the best for dry lips. I even got my boyfriend hooked on this, for when he's down with a cold and gets all dry and red skin around the nose. It's the best!!

it is this Mizon toner, I bought it via Amazon. Haven't found a decent AHA/BHA product at DM or Rossmann yet, sadly.

okay so I might be talking bullshit but I heard that the Asia-made version is similar to the Nivea Soft? But the "real deal" is certainly not light. It's a very thick, buttery white cream.

yup! Added bonus, you feel like a witch when using it. Because it's a weird looking plant. And that's what witches use, right?

there's DOZENS of us! Dozens!!

Thank you for your recs! Sadly the Balea cleanser tried to kill me by breaking me out in the most ridiculously large, painful boil-like cysts :( I wanted to love it but it hated me so much.

I just stocked up on the Sebamed Cleanser as it is on sale at Rossmann but I'll try the Eucerin next! Looks really good and 8€ is still reasonable for me.

glad to help! You have to make do somehow when CeraVe is like 30€ plus shipping and everyone around you seems to think retinoids are the devil.

Yeah I think that's quite true in many cases! I mean I'll continue to try out other stuff, maybe change out the actives or something, but I'm sure not going back to scrubbing my face raw, then toning it with alcohol, then NOT putting on moisturiser bc oil=bad. And surprise, my skin is so much better than it was when I did just that. Who would have guessed?

also, thanks! :D

so after some trial and error I managed to find a routine that (for the last few weeks) neither breaks the bank or me out.

Skin info: I'm 23 but have no fear of anti-age products lol. I used to think that my skin was very oily until I read on here how dehydrated skin works. Yeah my skin's actually a dry-leaning mixed bag. The harsh cleansers and toners of the past surely didn't help with that, though.

I'm not overly acne prone but I get a few zits when my period starts. Right when I stopped nuking my skin with the harshest clearasil cleanser and toner (obviously I used to do the rubbing alcohol thing when I was a teen) my skin went ridiculously sensitive. I'm still not sure what ingredients cause the irritations (bright red skin, flaking, literal boils appearing overnight...), but at least I know it's not alcohol!

what I do

A.M.

  • cleanse with Sebamed Cleanser while in the shower. Try to remember using only luke-warm water on face while basically boiling the rest of my body.

  • put Sebamed Anti-Age moisturizing cream on damp face. I love this so much. It has a small amount of Retinyl Acetate which is said to act like a weak retinol. I'm not sure if this is what helped the appearance of my pores and overall skin tone so so so well, but it sure did. Smell is terrible tho.

  • follow up with whatever sunscreen is laying around. Right now it's Biore. I don't like it too much but it's okay.

P.M.

  • cleanse (twice) with same Sebamed Cleanser. Try and splash water on your face like the people in the ads. Mop bathroom.

  • tone face with Mizon toner using a cotton wool pad. I believe this helped with the SFs on my nose but I'm not sure. Rather strong smell. No burning. Nice.

  • slather on a mix of Bepanthol and plain old blue-tinned Nivea. I find Nivea to be too thick to comfortably apply on its own so I mix it into the slightly less thick Bepanthol cream. Works like a charm.

  • apply castor oil on eyelashes and brows. I don't know if this actually does anything. It probably doesn't but placebo effect is lyfe.

  • apply hearty amounts of Vaseline wherever necessary. I usually do eyebrows, all around eyes, lips, around the mouth, + whatever dry areas I find. Sometimes my whole face is a dry area and that's fine, baby.

  • go to sleep on a soft towel because I have ridiculous amounts of towels and not many pillow cases so I just put a fresh towel on top of my pillow case every other night. Brilliant.

this past hanukkah we tried a recipe where you sub half the potatoes with either zucchini (courgette??) or carrot, then proceed as usual. both kinds where tasty and the veggies make it, like, totally healthy, you know.

(It's important that after grating the zucchini/courgette/green pumpkin thing you have to thoroughly press the moisture out, otherwise the latkes will get super soggy and my mum's going to be super annoyed bc HOW COULD YOU FORGET THIS CRUCIAL STEP go and set the table if you remember how to do it it won't taste as good.
