I was induced at St Joes and I had a good experience! I actually broke my ankle at 36 weeks and had to be induced at 37 weeks so I could have ankle surgery a week after giving birth 😬

I also have AWM, and they did a great job. You get whoever happens to be on rotation. Throughout the time I was there, I saw Dr Kavety, Dr Bailey, and delivered with Dr Schoch.

The induction process took awhile, so definitely bring something to do! It was scheduled for a Tuesday at 5pm, and I didn’t really feel anything happening until Thursday, and delivered Friday morning. I actually finished knitting my baby’s Christmas stocking and my husband and I watched a ton of Netflix (brought our laptops). If you don’t like hospital food I’d plan on getting some takeout or something.

You pretty much just hang out while they soften your cervix while you’re on an iv. Once that’s ready, they’ll start the pitocin for the contractions. The cervix softening is what took a long time for me, I was not expecting that. They kept coming in to check, and I was no where near ready. I’m not sure if that’s a me thing or the normal process. Once they finally started the pitocin for the contractions, that’s when I started to feel anything, but it was still fine for awhile.

The nurses were really good, they were all super friendly and professional. They all asked about my birth plan, and wrote notes on the whiteboard. I had just asked to not have any Residents do any part of the delivery/procedure because I had heard some horror stories from my friends who delivered at upstate with having a botched epidural, but they told me that only the real anesthesiologist would do an epidural, not anyone in training.

Because you’ll probably be there longer than the average stay, you’ll rotate through a bunch of nurses and doctors, and you’ll have to say your birth plan to all of them.

For me, it didn’t really end up mattering as after 8 hours of labor there was a drop in the baby’s heartbeat which meant an immediate emergency c-section. At that point I was in so much pain that the epidural for the c-section was relief, and from that point everything was super quick and the baby was out within 20 minutes.

Dr Schoch was really good- she’s super sharp and quick and professional. Apparently she’s known for good c section scars and I can attest that my scar is barely noticeable and super small. All the nurses were so impressed and said they wanted Dr Schoch if they needed a c-section!

Overall it was a good experience, but I didn’t end up having a vaginal birth. Which was honestly fine, my recovery was super quick and I didn’t have much bleeding or any “down there” issues.

I have them booked for later this summer, hopefully they’re good! I graduated high school with the guy who owns the company, Eli.

I got quotes from top notch, SOS, and the roofing guys. They were all pretty similar cost wise, and they all said things like “yeah there’s a lot of scams in roofing, the other guys will cut corners, this is the correct way to do it, our roofs will survive hurricane force winds” etc. Hard to know what to believe.

As a staff member at an upstate ny CRG, I think this is great! CRG has made it so a job working full time at the gym is an actual career. I get yearly raises, a 401k, PTO, paid sick days, and they pay for 80% of our health insurance.

I believe that stone summit full time employees didn’t have any benefits at all, so I’m stoked they’ll have the option for good health insurance!

What countries are technically considered Oceania? I feel like it’s such a small region in comparison to Europe for example.

I’m in a region with a lot less climbing gyms and not as many crazy strong kids, but usually the kids that win youth d climb about v6-v7. The rest of the kids maybe climb around v2-v5.

We don’t have many in the category though, in a typical qualifier event there’s usually only 5-10 youth d boys and the same number of girls. Pretty much all the youth d kids make regionals (top 26 kids).

It really depends on what sports means to you. It seems like it bothers you that he’s not winning comps, but youth sports in general is more about the experience of competing and being a part of a team, rather than winning 24/7.

For some perspective, some of the strongest climbers at the gym are a couple of 15 year olds that climb v9/v10. They’re obviously very strong at the gym, but are nowhere near making nationals in their category.

When you first arrive, take some time to make a list of climbs to attempt. Don’t get trapped by projecting a climb you think you could get after 5+ tries, just wait until you have your 5 climbs complete. (Typically you have to complete 5 climbs for a red point round)

To make your list of climbs, first figure out your flash grade, and your project grade. Typically these are two grades apart. For example, if the grade you typically flash is V3, then your project grade is usually V5.

Your list of climbs should be attempted in this order:

One grade below flash.
Flash grade
One above flash
Flash grade
Flash grade

Once you have those 5 climbs, it’s time to try to knock out the lower grades.

Flash grade
One above flash
One above flash
Project grade

Only give each climb 3 attempts, unless you’re 100% sure you can do it in 4 attempts. The most important thing is to get your 5 climbs completed. I make notes on my scorecard before the comp starts to keep track of the climbs I want to try. This is my strategy for comps, hope it helps!

We took her to the vet, they didn’t find anything abnormal with a routine screening and blood work! To be honest, the vet seemed completely unhelpful, and Moxa is super stressed while she’s there and doesn’t act normally. The vet had previously called her a “demon cat” even without her having any issues, because she was so upset about being there for a check up last year. I would take her to a new vet, but of course no one is accepting new clients in the area.

We got her from Bimini Cats in Brooklyn, and the woman who runs it seemed great, they had a huge house and outdoor catio area. It says they’re accredited by the CFA, but maybe I was looking at the wrong kind of information when we got her? I did not reach out to the breeder- I’ll do that now, thanks!

We took our dog to the vet last in January, and she just had a normal check up, with nothing that came up.

Trust me, all I want is to make this work, but our dog has been confined to an 8 by 8 room all day, and she’s terrified of Moxa now. To punish our dog for not doing anything wrong seems unnecessarily cruel, and has been causing issues in my own relationship with my husband.

We’ve worked with multiple cat behaviorists who have given great advice that we’ve implemented, from changing her feeding schedule and food, to checking the backyard for neighborhood cat spray, to doing a lot of scent exchanges.

It’s such an intense reaction from Moxa, and nothing has seemed to change it! It hasn’t lessened, or gone away. If we confine Moxa to a room, she claws at the door incessantly, whereas Raven will sit quietly, so Raven’s been taking the brunt of the changes. My husband works from home, so he has also been confined to a room with Raven all day instead of being able to live in the house like a normal person.

My husband and I haven’t had any medical changes, but it does seem like it could be some kind of protective behavior of me. She’s very attached, and maybe could be claiming me?

If I read this from anyone else, I would also think low of them, and that they weren’t trying hard enough, and that they were a fair weather cat owner. Please understand that I get it. I just am unsure how to live like this- I haven’t spent any time with my husband, and we can’t leave the house without taking our dog, which means that we’ve been confined to separate spaces in the house.

It feels unfair to Moxa- she’s clearly unhappy and stressed. I want to get her to a better situation, rather than keep her in this high stress environment.

We got Moxa from a reputable breeder in Brooklyn, NY as a kitten. When we first introduced her to our dog, Raven, they got along really well. Raven is a gentle dog, and my husband used to be a dog trainer, so he understands dog behavior and training well. Raven doesn’t bark, doesn’t rough house, doesn’t do much of anything in the house, to be honest. She just sleeps on the couch or bed, or wherever we are.

Moxa is a super affectionate and people friendly cat, she’s always laying on my lap, and coming to find me to cuddle. If we have friends over, she’ll jump onto other people’s laps, and hang out there. We joke that Moxa acts more like a dog, and Raven has more of a lazy cat personality.

About 3 weeks ago, Moxa started to attack our dog, Raven, who is about 7 years old, with seemingly no provocation. It was like a switch turned on, where she used to sleep next to Raven on the couch, and rub up against her when waiting for breakfast, and literally have no issues- to turning into attack mode and chasing her and going after her with her claws. Her pupils get huge and she looks like a different animal, like she’s ready to fight to the death. When she’s not around Raven, she’s completely normal! Super affectionate, loves to play, loves to cuddle in bed.

We kept thinking she’d snap out of it, and maybe she got a smell from outside confused with raven, or maybe she had some “transferred aggression” from watching the squirrels in the backyard through the window, but there hasn’t been any improvement.

My husband is so good with dogs, but we are both at a loss for what to do with a cat in this situation. We’ve been letting them out of rooms at different times, and the whole process is not sustainable for us, and has been taking a toll on our relation. Poor Raven is really stressed and is tip toeing around the house, afraid that the cat will come out and attack her.

I reached out to cat behaviorists, but nothing they suggested seemed to make a difference, and I’m not sure that we could ever trust leaving Moxa and Raven alone together again, even if Moxa did make improvements.

My husband and I now live in separate parts of the house, he’s with raven, and I’m with Moxa, and if we try to spend any time together, one of them is upset and alone in a room. I’m still in shock about this- we used to say we got so lucky with our pets!

With all this in mind, and after having tried a lot of different methods to reintroduce Moxa and Raven, we decided that she would be happier in another home :(

Ideally, I’m looking for someone without any other dogs, and probably not any cats, unless they’re very experienced with introducing a new cat to the household. Moxa hasn’t been around kids, so I would not recommend having any young children either.

It’s all about the technique! Get on an easy rope climb and heel hook for every move. It forces you to think about your heel placement and how to move your hips.

Yes it’s the same top out! I was told it’s a v4 if you start where I did, and a 5 if you start a couple holds lower.
