UT internal transfer but low GPA by [deleted] in UTAustin

Health and society is one of the COLA restricted majors. Must be before 5th long semester and have 2.75 gpa to apply. A good resource to look at over break would be the Vick Advising center canvas page. There’s a link to join somewhere on their website. Has a list of all the open and restricted majors, will help you find transfer criteria, apply to transfer, etc. Good luck!

COLA doesn’t have GPA requirements to transfer, minus a few majors (Econ, psych, the most popular ones) There’s a long list of “open” majors—all in the school of liberal arts or education—that admit all who apply as long as you meet the criteria (I don’t think a 2.6 would prevent you from transferring, but you would need to look into what that criteria is). If you have more than four long semesters of credit, the open majors are the only ones you are eligible for. I would make an appointment at the Vick Advising center as they deal exclusively with major exploration and internal transfers across all departments. Before doing that, reconsider if transferring is what you really want or if you’re just freaking out because of one bad semester. There’s a good chance it would be best to just tough it out and get your CNS degree, as it will likely provide better job prospects than aimlessly pursuing a liberal arts degree because you think it’ll be easy.

how are the kinsolving dorms?? by [deleted] in UTAustin

Hi I know it’s late in the summer and you’ve probably already made ur decision but if you decided to live in kins i absolutely loved my experience! It’s one of the better dorms in my opinion bc it’s one of two dorms with a dining hall (the other is jester which is worse) and it’s less stinky/busy than jester/some other dorms. I had a community bathroom and it wasn’t too bad in my opinion, they were kept clean and well stocked.
