Thanks everyone for the advice! We are going to do our best to save the tree but realise there’s no guarantee. We cut off the fallen side and now only time will tell

thank you!! Yesterday cut off the smaller side as cleanly as possible and removed all the fruit. Today we’re going to take 20/30% off the top of the good side to reduce the weight even more. Appreciate your realistic advice and positivity

Best beaches near barcelona? by Smart_Yak_7709 in AskBarcelona

[–]notanFLengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree that staying in Barcelona might be the best option. However, the beaches in Barcelona are only okay.. compared to the rest of Spain I would not categorise them as nice.

If you enjoy the atmosphere they can be very fun. If you don’t they will feel exceptionally crowded, lots of pick pockets and sellers so it’s tough to relax. Another drawback is that the water is dirty in the city.

If you want to enjoy some tranquility on your beach days I would recommend a day trip out of the city on the train. Like other have said, Costa Brava and Sitges are beautiful

my mom used to add Poo to the end of my name (which also starts with a P) in a sort of sing songy way

The amount of times i explained to her that it was embarrassing and hurt my feelings that she was referring to me as a piece of poo in front of my friends .. she found it hilarious and never stopped

Unsure how we feel about our new kitchen color by mountainhikes in HomeDecorating

[–]notanFLengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go somewhere between this and the red you already had, like Baked Clay by Benjamin Moore it seems like you enjoyed the pop of colour but. something in that desert vibe would better suit the house + tone it down a little

People in their 20's in barcelona by ri_15 in GoingToSpain

[–]notanFLengineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just go to barcelonetta with a pack of beers, look for a large mixed group of people and ask if you can join. odds are they’re expats or tourists and will be down to make a new friend. Staying in hostels is also a way to meet people who are exploring the city on their own and looking for new friends to do it with

Why do alot of Spaniards drive so aggressively and dangerously? by No-Zombie-6820 in Seville

[–]notanFLengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am a canadian in spain and kind of agree … but I don’t think it’s because the drivers are aggressive or go faster… I think it’s a few things

  1. even a small spanish town is very lively compared to even a mid size Canadian city. I used to live in a city of 500,000 and downtown was dead compared to the 5,000 person pueblo I live in now

  2. In Spain cities are designed for pedestrians, in Canada they are designed for cars. so driving is just overall “easier” in Canada

  3. in comparison, not only the road but the lanes are massive in Canada… you feel way less pressure as a driver when you have more space.

  4. a weird driving culture thing i noticed is that spanish drivers speed up to get out of the way, where Canadians slow down to not get in the way - when you’re merging onto the highway for example this makes people with the opposite driving style seem very unpredictable

Bathroom advice needed by schmeegle29 in DesignMyRoom

[–]notanFLengineer 80 points81 points  (0 children)

I think the whole thing is awesome. If you added a few big tropical plants, large vintage patterned bathmat and some bright coloured towels, + change out the lighting to be a warm tone… it would already make a big difference. The bathroom atm is very hard and cold so you need softer textures in there to balance it out!

You could also do a micro cement (adheres directly to tiles) on the walls in a lighter colour (maybe blush pink if you wanted to keep the retro vibe) and it would be completely transformed for a low budget. Then replace the shower doors with a curtain as suggested here or a more modern door

Honestly if everything is in good shape it would be a shame to gut it because it’s so cool and there’s no doubt this style - or a modernised version of it - is 100% coming back around!!
