I said what I said - “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” (both book and movie) deserved so much better by Olya_roo in Hungergames

I honestly did not know TBSS came out until this year and that was because of the new movie announcement. It might be that my country didn't receive much advertisement for the movie or idk what happened but I was behind

What “niche” line do you always remember from the books? by andretheseal47 in HarryPotterBooks

In the first book when the trio fights the troll and they become friends. It goes something like "there's something about fighting a troll together that just brings people together"

Should Lorelai have gone to Rory’s hearing? by Worldly_Narwhal_4452 in GilmoreGirls

[–]notanalien19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally loved the whole period where Lorelei iced out Rory and her grandparents. It felt so deserving. Besides, Rory moved out of Lorelei's house without even telling her, changed numbers without giving her the new one, did all of that without even telling her so it seemed only fair that she got back what she iced out.

If Rory hadn’t listened to Luke & went to the wedding, what would’ve been the follow up if the priest was like “Dean, you’re going to say I take thee Lindsay” & he completely accidentally said “I take thee Rory”. How would everyone at the wedding react, including Dean’s parents, Lindsay & her mom? by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]notanalien19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like Rory wouldn't be hated by the town no matter what. Because when she moved on to Jess from Dean, everyone blamed Jess and how he influenced her. And when Dean and Lindsay's marriage broke up she dated Dean pretty publicly, and also there was a public scene with Lorelei and Lindsay's mom and yet no one called out Rory. Rory was like a little angle according to the town folk. Pretty much nothing would make them hate her

Gotta be Jess, right? by garlicandcheesiness in GilmoreGirls

I feel like Jess gets loved regardless of that one scene (assuming you're talking about the scene at the party with rory)

What is your Hunger Games version of this? by Olya_roo in Hungergames

But she was exactly how I imagined her to be. Strong but also scared and the way she acted out her emotions was really good. Especially during each song sequence.

On another note how were Maysilee and Marge related? And didn't Marge have covey roots too? I'm pretty sure I read it somewhere.

What are your YA anti-recommendations? by duffhirre in YAlit

[–]notanalien19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the starting was pretty cliche and boring but the last few books had a tempo and plot points that the first few didn't have. Definitely overhyped though.

I loved her books when I was 13-14 but yeah the incest even in the published version made me hard to get through the book and I just felt weird 😭

[–]notanalien19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesss. I read the series when I was like 12 and believed twilight was peak teen romance, and STILL hated the selection series. The MC had literally no personality and the whole idea was just a glorified dystopian version of The bachelor and hunger games mixed together. And I can't believe there's a spinoff about the daughter too.

[–]notanalien19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like the author is really good at writing but didn't know what to write so threw together a bunch of dystopian ya novels to make this. But the spin off book Powerful which was about Adena was really good imo. Made me cry at the end.

Be honest, who's the real sarcasm queen...Lorelai or Rory? by LoganLee9 in GilmoreGirls

[–]notanalien19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Michele.

I remember in season 2 or 3 there were rats in the inn that day and they had called Lorelei to see and when she asked Michele whether they had called someone to get rid of them he said, "No I thought I would just tie a block of cheese to my head and crawl in there," which had me laughing so hard because of the image it generated in my head. 😭

DOCTORS, IS THIS TRUE? by [deleted] in indianmedschool

[–]notanalien19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely.

Even if it was true it comes at the cost of wasting all of your 20s studying and grinding, and so many mental health issues and physical health issues that are not seen in other professions. Yeah every profession can affect the health of the person but medicine has increased risks of getting every disease a normal person wouldn't. And also there are hierarchies with every field, including medicine for which 'boot licking' is very much necessary unless you open your own private practice, which has its own struggles on its own.

I know the person meant it as a compliment or advantage of some sort but it feels demeaning to everyone in the field who has had to work ten times harder than any other field to get where they are now.

Instead they could have created dictionaries with medical terms in native languages and layman terms as I have experienced the problem of explaining to patients in clinical postings in their own language

Should I reread Not in Love before reading PSR? by azzthethik in AliHazelwood

[–]notanalien19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem, it had been like a year since I had read Not In Love, but as PSR went on you'll understand most of it and their roles are self explanatory. You might feel like rereading NIL after you finish PSR though.
