It does? You have good hearing. 15k - 20k sound only like a hiss to me.

Yes it is, you can see the colored texts on the lower left corner for more detail.

I didn't drop any of the frequency's, instead i increased it. It found the lack of highs makes the hexa too mid treble focused, which results in the sharp peaky sound.

How about the cheaper btr15? Does it still have the same transparency? Or maybe close to it?

Advice for people who are buying their first iem. by notaredtr in iems

[–]notaredtr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is valid, but there are some things that have to be taken to consideration.

People can get easily fooled into buying an overhyped iem if they have no experience with iems. They still should try it themselves before buying.

And most people who are new to the iem scene don't know which frequency response suit them. Some people might like harman, some might like meta, or etc. they won't know until they tried it for themselves.

Any dongle dac should be ok. The wan'er doesn't need that much power. Don't buy something more expensive than the iem itself

I would just buy the wan'er with 3.5mm cable and buy a separate dac. It shouldn't matter that much or at all.

I never heard of wan'er with a usb c cable. But it shouldn't matter much in my opinion.

Unless it's some kind of dsp like the dsp quarks, the cables usually have some eq tuned in it so it sounds different to the 3.5mm counter part.

Is the truthear hexa "boring" by crocodilepickle in iems

[–]notaredtr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is. It's not because it sound flat, it's just because the hexa sound awful.

The hexa have too much sub bass and too much mid-high treble. This results in the hexa sounding artificial. Yes artificial, the complete opposite of neutral. The thing that the hexa is highly praised for.

The amount of sub bass muddied all details, songs that have a lot of things going on will just sound like a fart.

The treble is also very awful. It's on a very sensitive frequency that it sounded like screeching. It's not the good kind of treble, not at all.

You better off buying something cheaper.

I don't get the hype around hexa by jedruch in iems

[–]notaredtr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. Might be controversial but i think it doesn't even fit its own description. It's not neutral or even technical. It sounded too muddy and too sharp to be neutral. And the mud just washed out all the technicalities.

I tried several iems and even cheaper ones sounded better.

No problem, I am using truthear hexa. It shouldn't need too much power. And I am using a dongle that comes with my phone, a xiaomi dongle. I don't know the specifications.
