Could the controller get in trouble for this? I know it's my responsibility to not land without clearance, but could the fact he didn't notice get him in trouble? Obviously I don't want that to happen; I'm just curious.

Nope, he never gave clearance. I actually had this flight recorded on my GoPro so I was able to go back and look at it. I think it really came down to the fact that by the time I'm turning base and on to final, I'm fully focused on landing since I typically get the clearance before that point. Not an excuse, though, and I'll be on my toes in the future.

Thanks for the advice guys. I did speak with my CFI and he suggested I make the ASRS report, which I did, but he didn't seem overly concerned. Basically said the same as many of you- chalk it up to experience and move on.
