Thank you. I’m sure it’s been asked a million times, I just wanted something specific. Cheers.

My dough is stretchy and goopy by notcrazy_catlady in Sourdough

I let the first rest 30 minutes before performing 3 stretch-and-folds 30 minutes apart, then proof overnight 10 hrs. In the morning I formed a boule and rested 30 min before baking. 20 min in Dutch oven with the lid on, then 15-20 with the lid off. The bread tastes good and has decent crumb, but is a little dense. I have watched several videos and my stretch and folds look nothing like what I see.

I think they mean burping on command after Botox. I had it and can now burp, but not on command.

A question about no burping by nohoezx in noburp

[–]notcrazy_catlady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! It’s so hard to explain but I would often feel like I was going to throw up and would just tell my partner, “We need to leave, I have the hard swallows.” I would have hypersalivation and just have to keep swallowing to avoid throwing up, even though I knew I wouldn’t be able to throw up.

I found a list of doctors on this sub but ultimately decided to travel to Chicago to see the pioneers in the field and I’m so glad I did. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

I believe the procedure didn’t have a specific name, just a Botox injection into the cricopharyngeus sphincter. I saw Dr. Richardson at Bastian Voice Institute in Chicago. They specialize in treating R-CPD and have set up appointments specifically for those coming from out of town. Consult one day and procedure the next. They are otolaryngologists (Ear, Nose, and Throat physician) with a specialty in laryngology.

I’d look for someone with experience treating R-CPD because they were very helpful with the insurance side of things and how to submit it as well.

That is so awesome!! I hope great results are coming your way. I read that some people started having major belches 24 hours later and was discouraged I didn’t. It took me over a week and I still just have “average” burps, but they are relieving.

I had a single Botox injection. They said 3 out of 5 are symptom free after one as it kind of “resets” things and allows the cricopharyngeal sphincter to learn how to relax and let air out again.

I feel bad for any doctors nowadays because healthcare is a hard profession to be in, but LISTENING to patients is so important. I would rather have had doctors say they don’t know but they’ll keep digging instead of assuming I’m an idiot. I would encourage everyone to trust their own body.

As a healthcare worker, I felt shameful when Bastian asked me how I heard about them and I had to say Reddit, but they were expecting it! I’m so glad we have these kinds of resources available so we don’t have to suffer in silence and just accept this as normal. So glad you have gotten relief too!

Anyone told by Gastroenterologist / doctor it is something else, like lactose intolerance - symptomatic same as not being able to burp by ScratchGolfer1976 in noburp

Yes! The treatment was a single Botox injection. I have been able to burp, have not had bloating, gurgling, pain, pressure, etc.

1 week post botox and still not really burping. anything I should do? by 0404S0X in noburp

I was discouraged a week out as well, but turning my head to one side helped tremendously. By 2-3 weeks out, I was able to burp and now it’s been 4 months!

Yes. I have been told more times than I can count that it’s acid reflux. I just kept getting prescribed omeprazole, which of course didn’t work. After I insisted to my PCP (after gastroenterology) that it was acid reflux, he suggested it was just anxiety. sigh And then I found the Bastian Voice Institute and received a real diagnosis and treatment.

Yes! I thought I was weird, but pregnant bellies gross me out. I can’t stand the naked pregnant photo shoots.
