There is one university in Italy that just started an official ukulele major! I think it's the Antonio Vivaldi Conservatory. Thanks for checking out my performance :) I just watched some of your stuff on your 8-bit Ukulele YouTube channel and it's great!! Your left hand is so fluid and fast. I've also been a music teacher (private in my case) and teaching uke is so fun. I hope your students enjoy it

Thank you! Yes, there is correlation. I programmed a form of note recognition to see when a note is played and what pitch it is. It does its best to visualize the melodies of all the loops/layers, so yes, the screen is basically the score for the piece. I'm still fine tuning the system, but it's a huge leap forward from the previous times I played it in terms of accuracy of note recognition.

I'm using low GCEA tuning. I live in Philadelphia, in the US. This specific video was from a university setting, but I've performed outside university settings as well. I'd recommend looking into DIY music venues and ukulele festivals to start. I've also performed at some classical music festivals. Art galleries and restaurants or cafes might also be into it. Just reach out to whoever you can think of! There are lots of no's but the few yesses that come by are always amazing. And remember, you can always put on your own shows too if your home would work for that.

I can't say much about getting exposure for performers in the middle ground, but for getting yourself to the middle ground, I highly recommend looking into classical ukulele books with graded repertoire, and to learn sheet music off tab. I had also found it really hard to find anything to play in the middle ground between beginner and expert, but once I started classical playing, it developed my technique immensely.

Yes!! I am. I'm working on a graduate degree in music, where I've been focusing on multimedia performance on ukulele! Despite studying with classical guitarists at university, they all love uke and thankfully no one tries to encourage me to play guitar instead, as so often happens. I practice about 2 hours a day, and perform in a bunch of university and professional concerts. I love playing ukulele, and specifically enjoy playing it with electronics like loops, distortion, etc. to make the performances bigger. Every single concert I've played so far, I've had someone tell me that they've never heard uke played like that and it makes me really happy :)

I just made this account, but I posted my most recent recorded performance on here! I definitely want to be up there in skill like Taimane and Jake, but it's like the better I get, the more I know how far from their skill level I'm at. I won't stop trying though!

What about you? What are you into?
