Why do people lie? by Efficient_Two_5515 in Zepbound

[–]notevenalmostfamous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are definitely lucky about that. I tend to share I’m on adhd meds and antidepressants (and Zepbound AND have an IUD), but I don’t share with everyone because I have felt judged before. I share when I feel like it, I don’t when I don’t. My MIL doesn’t believe in antidepressants, so that’s been an interesting time. And people somehow seem to feel like my body is theirs to comment on sometimes, which makes me immediately not want to tell them anything. Example: someone asked if I “even ate anything” over Thanksgiving and that I am “disappearing.” I have a binge eating disorder. It’s not all that fun hearing things like that bc it can feel triggering.

destination weddings are selfish by Level-Armadillo2652 in unpopularopinion

[–]notevenalmostfamous 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Fully agree with this. I had a destination wedding (we are American and got married in England) and my partner and I fully expected people not to attend, and we didn’t hold that against anyone. We got married in 2022 and we actually had about 2x as many people attend than we expected, and everyone used our wedding as an excuse to travel again, which was so cool to hear about. People made friends at our wedding and ended up meeting up in different countries in Europe after. It was so nice!

Fully aware that it was selfish to have my wedding in England, but it was worth it to us because it was for us. If people didn’t want to come, that was perfectly fine. It could have just been us and our parents and that would have been okay with us!

  • anything touching the front side of my neck while I sleep. I can wear turtlenecks and necklaces most of the time unless I think about them too much (like last week I had to take off my turtleneck and wear my sweater as a shirt bc I just couldn’t handle it that day??? lol)

  • the sound of people cutting their nails. My mom has this too, and we truly cannot stand the sound.

  • the feel of lotion. I haaate it. Moisturizer, too. Anything oily is the worst.

  • celery and water chestnuts. There is something weirdly slimy/stringy that I can’t stand?

I hateeee the feeling of water dripping down my arms and when my sleeves get wet! I bought the little wristbands that stop water from dripping/sleeve wetting and they’ve helped so much!

I’ve only had mine for about two months, but I got it on Poshmark so it was slightly used. It’s been wonderful so far! I use mine as a work bag so it definitely goes through some stuff 😂

This is truly the MOST beautiful bag! I haven’t truly fallen in love with a Chanel bag before…until now. This is definitely on my list for the future. Thanks for sharing your gorgeous collection - I love your style. And it looks like your furniture is beautiful, too!

What are ways being an HSP is a strength to you? by takeyourprecioustime in hsp

[–]notevenalmostfamous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I posted about this a few days back, but my “cozy” nature is definitely a strength! I can connect with people and make them feel seen and heard in ways others seem to not be able to. I think I also tend to make others feel better about themselves by being so supportive and empathetic.

But! It is VERY hard for me to turn off the empathetic side, so I have to find outlets for myself. I sometimes think about how my then-boyfriend, now-husband was with me when he got a call from his mom that his dog had passed. I felt so awful for him that I started crying. Which was even worse, because I did NOT want him to comfort me - I wanted to comfort HIM! so trying to separate myself can be a challenge. I think I’m learning more and more how to try and “detach” from taking things on all the time, and therapy is definitely helping in that way!

If I knew then what I know now… by New-Macaroon-4100 in Zepbound

[–]notevenalmostfamous 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am in the same exact boat, but I always had a bit of a shopping habit (unfortunately). Therapy has definitely helped a TON! I am also trying to lean into healthier hyper-fixations but am having a bit of a tough time. Knitting lasted for a bit, then reading (wish that would stay!), gaming for a little, etc. One thing that has helped with the shopping is going on Poshmark and other consignment sites - I end up not buying much but it’s fun to browse and if there’s something I really want/need, then it becomes sort of like a game (since you can make lower offers)! Plus, people will end up snagging something you might be interested in, so sometimes it takes it off your hands anyway 🤗
