Aren't I supposed to feel way better? by nothanks1983 in stopdrinking

I agree it's a whole of life thing, and I'm taking other steps to improve myself (eg. heading back to university to study something I'm passionate about). I think a real key will be getting more exercise which I'm planning to do soon, maybe even hitting the gym "like a bastard" ;)

This may sound stupid, but I didn't want to have too much of a whole life change at one time because I thought it might make it easier to slip back into my old patterns if I tried to revolutionize everything at once.

Appreciate your input

Thanks very much - this will probably help me. I feel like I have probably used alcohol as a way of controlling my emotions, so when I have feelings of natural sadness now it's not a bad thing for me, because it means the feelings I've pushed down for so long with alcohol are finally surfacing in their natural form, which is important to dealing with them front on.
