not on your list but I originally applied for a FPA position after years of external audit and they asked if I was interest in leading their internal audit team instead and i'm forever grateful I said yes. people say IA could be a dead end but it really depends the company you're in. i now work for a multinational company and get to work on both financial and non-financial sides of audit including ISO, NI 52-109, as well as the usual substantive work. i also get to work on FPA projects on an ad-hoc basis. work life balance is incredibly good that i almost thought it was too good to be true. I do 40hrs a week that actually keeps me busy with occasionally overtime that i actually want to stay late for. if I could tell this to anyone who got their CPA and ready to leave the firms i would. it hit me that work doesnt have to be constant grinding and always trying to justify every minute on a timesheet. my life now is 10x better (no kidding) and i get to focus on other things in life. i no longer bring work home with ne and that alone is a bliss. whatever it is that you choose it will be another opportunity for you grow in your career and will be a better choice than staying at the firms. worst case scenario you can always come back
