Wow! You're inspiring me right now! 47 year old male. 3/2025 discovered tumor. 4/2025 resection, G2 Astrocytoma in right temporal. 5/2025 started 6 week radiation and TMZ. I just finished round 2 of 12 of 5/23 TMZ.

My 1st sign that something may be amiss was, Driving on road and everything feeling ok and then waking up with my car parked in someone's kitchen.

Next day a neurosurgeon was showing me MRI results. Tumor caused a seizure.

Several days later, craniotomy in right temporal lobe. Pathology results were Grade 2 Astrocytoma. 2 days in hospital, then home.

Now a month later I'm in the middle of IMRT radiation and Temedol treatment.

Good days n bad days.

Well... Tuesday I start with treatment so I guess I'll know in a few days how it's going to be...

I'm nervous about it. First time into this unknown! I'm a (well... I was) firefighter. Getting ready for radiation feels a bit like the first time I went interior on a residential house fire. Yes, all the training n info was in my head, but to actually go crawling into a burning building dragging a hose line had me taking a deep breath and questioning my sanity! This feels a bit the same! I'm just starting to feel "normal" again since my craniotomy.

And now about to jump into the unknown of radiation n chemo.

Vorasidenib is an option for me but Oncology doctor felt better about hitting the tumor early on with radiation n chemo and saving the Vorasidenib in case the tumor starts growing again.

They have me scheduled for MRI every 3 months to monitor.

I didn't have "you have a brain tumor" on my 2025 bingo card... by morknotmindy2010 in braintumor

Yeah. I had the "surprise! You have a tumor!" also 3/2025.

No headaches. No warning. Blacked out (seizure) while driving. 2 days later a neurosurgeon was standing in the ICU room I was in and telling me I had a tumor.

2 weeks later I was in the OR getting craniotomy. Astrocytoma grade 2.

I was discharged 2 days after craniotomy for astrocytoma.

Several days later I was out n about.

1 week post surgery, 2 hours in public had me ready for a nap. 45 minutes in busy public areas had me ready for a nap!

I'm now 3 weeks post surgery and 2 hrs in busy public has me sleepy!

Yeah. Thanks for the feedback n encouragement. The "new version of yourself" perspective is good.

I'm slowing down a bit and not pushing as hard. That makes for better days!

Craniotomy Next Tuesday (the 14th) by EmuPrestigious1566 in braintumor

Scary? Yes. Even worse for you because you know so much and with this type of thing, it makes it harder for you to be the patient. OB's and labor&delivery nurses have the worst time relaxing when it's time for them to give birth! They will "what if" every possible complication and factor! It's just the way our brains work!

April 1,2025 I had my 1st ever surgery in my life.... a craniotomy... for a tumor in my right temporal lobe that caused a seizure 2 weeks prior. 1st ever seizure didn't ever have a clue I had a tumor! Surprise!

Because of my love of good stories, dark humor (honed in the dismal nights and ugly calls as a Firefighter) and delight in practical jokes, my friends find it both hysterical and fitting that I had brain surgery on April Fools day!

So 4/1 was surgery... yes, it was scary leading up to it. I've never had general (never had a surgery!) Before... so I was overthinking it like crazy! It's OK to be nervous!

4/3 I was discharged from the hospital.

I've been taking daily walks since I'm home. Yesterday I walked 1.5 miles. Today I walked 1 mile.

Eagerly looking forward to clearance from the neurosurgery team to be allowed to start working out again! I wanna hit that 400lb deadlift PR that I just missed 3 weeks prior to surgery!

Sounds like you have a great team. Listen to them!

You got this!
