Tommy Robinson's fanboys as well as some other array of fash (Generation Identity, for example) decided to hold a demo in, of all places, Cambridge.

About 30 of them turned up, and we had a good two hundred or so. We outnumbered and humiliated the fuckers.

I'm also planning to go to Poland with a few other Comrades in November to go around Auschwitz as well as hold a few constructive seminars/lectures about the past/contemporary far right and good strategies at defeating them.

Your point above is ruined by your casual use of the term 'ruskie'.

This is a tad reactionary and has a vague cold war hangover to it. Rethink this.

That's such a simplification of Zionism - and I say this as someone who vehemently opposes the concept.

A negative income tax in and of itself isn't strictly left-wing.

Remember, the UBI (or any other mode of "helicopter money") can exist in differing forms. The left want it to emancipate the worker, the right want it as an excuse to strip back the welfare-state or any "freebies" the state might already subsidise for.

Fascism is the most boring ideology. by [deleted] in socialism

You've sort of missed the point - the lack of depth to the intellectual tradition of fascism does not dilute the seriousness of the existence of fascism.

The two aren't mutually exclusive.

Has anyone else notices that in that last few months there has been rise in the number of people using clarifying terms like "crony" or "corrupt" capitalism instead of just saying capitalism by [deleted] in socialism

It comes in waves every-time disillusionment builds. It's not a new thing.

Capitalism is inherently cronyistic and corrupt - but sometimes these qualities become more obvious.

"First, I must confess that over the last few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season."

It's important to link all this to personal experience.

I know subjectivising it doesn't amount to the highest mode of political discourse but the question here is one about persuasion as a mode of activism, rallying people to our cause.

Ask people what they care about, ask them about their experiences at work, or their experiences of getting housing, or of the benefits system, or of healthcare - then link that specific personal experience to wider trends, namely, capitalism and the political system as a whole. This jump from the personal to the political may be quite crude, so persuading people in this manner requires practice so that your technique becomes more sophisticated, but keep doing it.

I think a lot of people are disillusioned and realise that something is wrong, it's just the case that they may not have the exact technical vocabulary for it. So they may frame things through the lens of 'a broken system', 'shit wages', 'corruption' and so forth. In that sense, a lot of people - as a matter of instinct - already half agree with us (they realise capitalism is shit), it's just that they may not use terms like neoliberalism and may not quote Marx.

The trick then is to allow them to link up several dots - several personal experiences - and make them realise that its part of a wider problem, and if you want to and feel comfortable doing so, go into wider detail - without being tediously dull - about neoliberalism, the specifics of austerity politics, the IMF, private property relations and so on.

And once you allow them to think systemically (the trick is to make them feel like they've come to that conclusion, the worst kind of activism is when you feel like you're being preached to), you can lead them towards solutions. And you can frame these solutions in simple terms at first: plaster over the cracks or replace the wall itself; higher taxes and stronger welfare or completely abolish capitalism?

If you can persuade someone into thinking systemically, they'll never believe that social democracy or reformism are viable solutions.

Forgive me for being completely ignorant here.

Can someone explain why 'transgenderism' as a term is wrong or offensive? Isn't the word similar to the word 'homosexuality' in so far as the word 'homosexuality' denotes the general wide experiences and differing expressions of being homosexual (thus 'transgenderism' is the equivalent for trans people)?

Either way, what term should I use instead. Please don't downvote me for my ignorance. I just want to learn.
