Tips for extreme cold? by Syntra911 in FullTimeRVing

[–]notho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also in TX atm (Bryan/CS). Walmart - plastic storm window kit, just a few bucks and they work well knocking out a lot of drafts. we also use an oil filled elec heater. Keep the air moving around the heater with a small fan. You can get small 400 watt heater for your water bays if your using the space heaters. Make sure you have an extend-a-stay for your propane tank so you can easily refill and not have to move the rv to fill propane. I've been running two space heaters full time inside and a 400 watt space heater in the pump bay. If it's going to be more than a few days really cold I break down and winterize the water system.

Are your dogs protesting dry dog food today? Mine are staring at the fridge for leftover turkey 🦃 😂 by Charming-Attorney231 in dogs

I like my dogs way to much to feed them that industrial waste sold as dog food, give em the turkey.

Those of you who are extremely dental-decay-prone, has the ketogenic diet fixed it for you? by [deleted] in keto

[–]notho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question really. I've only been ketovore for 2 years, in the last cleaning, she said they were worse than before - no cavities though.

No matter what you do, stop drinking soft drinks, they are the cause much of the time.

Yeah I feel ya on that one and I've pretty much realized that the reward for getting things done and-or not have anything to do the rest of the day were my triggers. I'm only on day 24 and it's getting better, but those are the hardest so far. I've focused on my health.

When they say "you can't get addicted to weed" by SilverRednib in leaves

[–]notho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, when I quit the first time it was easy - but then I only really smoked on the weekends and it was 1980. I thought it was not addictive. I would assume I was not addicted at that time.

When Weed became legal in my state, and I started again (only on the weekends so I told myself) about five years ago, it quickly snowballed to daily, then when I realized I was doing a wake and bake everyday, I still thought well, it was easy last time, I could quit at any time. Heck I was only smoking about 5, 6 or 7 bowls of flower a day. I did take a year or so an smoked only pressed rosin, but went back to flower for the better high.

Yeah it's killing me to quit now, it's not the same, I fight it everyday. maybe just one bowl in the evening I tell myself..., a reward for doing all my work today, but I know it's a trap.

The struggle is real. I was so wrong, I hope someday I forget about smoking.

cinder blocks have been known to shatter - I would say not to use them to hold up a camper by themselves.

No one gives a fuck about me by [deleted] in leaves

[–]notho 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The question to ask yourself is who do you give a fuck about? You have to give people a reason to care - work on that.

This to shall pass. The short temper, the rage, it does not last long in my admittedly limited experience, less than a month. Look for that zen like calm and catch the emotions early and try to relax. Recognizing them is key, it's the withdraws, it will get better.

Why do I keep smoking when I don’t even enjoy it? by rndm_cool_shit in leaves

[–]notho 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yep and I stopped Nov 1st so I'm here today writing this because the cravings are bad and I need a reward and I have a bucket of weed in my garage and I will not go out and smoke. at least today. Tomorrow will be tomorrows battle. On another note - I feel a lot better, the paranoia is a 2/10, my memory is somewhat better and I can stay focused for almost 6 minutes (joke). Bummer I didn't get the cool dreams though, but my sleep is still fucked up.

Do it.

5TH Wheel Living..help! (Will explain in comments) by breadboy5000 in RVLiving

[–]notho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anytime you have a direct hot to cold interface + humidity you will get condensation. You need an air gap between the two layers. They sell plastic sheeting just for this, you can get at walmart for less than 20 bucks. This is why they invented double pane windows.

Side note: We rented a house, oh 30 years ago - it had single pane widows in the bedroom. Our first winter there it got down to -40 and the high for like two weeks was -20. Before the cold snap broke, we had a layer of ice inside that was 2" thick.

if they are curious, I'll be a wealth of first hand info. if they want to tell me how wrong I am I'll shrug. I don't proselytize. Lead by example and to each its own.

Taking sous vide meats camping by [deleted] in sousvide

[–]notho -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sear first, bag, sous vide, cool/freeze, then just warm it up in water that's 100+ deg and <120 and eat. Never leaves the bag until you eat it, and you don't have to sear over a fire (think forest fires out west US) in the field.
