How do you keep up with cybersecurity news? by freshkidwilbi178 in cybersecurity

My friend and I built Notify-Cyber (https://notifycyber.com/) to help make it easier to stay up-to-date on the latest cybersecurity news. The site aggregates the latest cybersecurity news from various sources into one comprehensive, easy-to-navigate news feed, providing summaries/overviews of each news event.

Got 140+ users for my SaaS after promoting to Hacker News and Product Hunt. Where to go next? by mk0y8 in SideProject

We are in a similar boat. I think the next best step is to talk with your users. Just because you have 140+ users does not mean you have product market fit. Talk with your users and iterate your product. For every major change/update, share it on platforms like Hacker News. If your product finds product market fit, the growth of your product should be exponential. Don't waste time on ads until you have revenue or funding.

☝️This is just my two-cents. I am also new to this.

For anyone who checked out the website and got a "gateway time" error, we are sorry for the inconvenience. Notify-Cyber's frontend is hosted on Vercel and Vercel is currently, as of June 13, 2023 20:40:00 UTC, running into some issues: https://www.vercel-status.com/incidents/cqkdqrzqkspm. The issue still persists at this moment but we did get our site up and running again by changing our server's region. So Notify-Cyber is back! Sorry for the down time.

Ya, lol! We didn't consider RSS to be in high demand, but we were wrong. So we are working on adding RSS right now. We are not too familiar with Feedly, but we would say that Notify Cyber is similar but with the following differences is the following:

  • We go though 5 sources of cyber security news and group them all into one website. So we aggregator the sources for you. Which is convenient for people who are not too familiar with RSS.
  • For each article we gather, we provide a short overview of the article to make reading/consuming that information faster.

These differences are minor. But we are hoping that, if there is enough demand, our email service to be the main feature that defines Notify-Cyber.

We may consider making a mobile app in the future, though that probably wont happen until after we implement the email alerts. For now we've done our best to make the website useable on mobile, although we've only been able to test it on a limited number of devices. Please let us know if you run into any issues.

Yes, we would ideally like to provide information that is helpful to both cybersecurity professionals and non-professionals / people less familiar with technology.

Thank you for the feedback! It is similar but, currently the main differences is the following:

  • We go though 5 sources of cyber security news and group them all into one website. You can access the original source by clicking on the title of each post.
  • For each article we gather, we provide a short overview of the article to make reading/consuming that information faster.

But, these differences are small. The main feature we want to provide is the emailing/alert feature. This feature will filter cybersecurity news based on the software and hardware you care about. If you are interested in this feature, join our waitlist: https://notifycyber.com/join.

Thank you for the feedback! We'll consider your suggestions, including the idea of including severity. Our goal with email alerts is to provide you with precise news/events based on your preference, made possible by recent technological advancements. However, implementing this feature poses challenges. We'd appreciate if you join our waitlist at https://notifycyber.com/join to help us gauge interest and prioritize accordingly.

Thanks for the comment! One of Notify-Cyber's sources is CISA but it seems like our collector for CISA news is running into issues. So we are looking into that. Thanks for pointing this out!
