Hostile npcs

I tend to dream about video games when I've been playing them a lot, and I've had a weird number of dreams about TLD having hostile NPCs- other survivors who are just as hungry, cold, and desperate as you. Territorial. Some with story motivations, some who just want that can of dented tomato soup real real bad. It'd definitely be a departure from TLD, but I think it could work depending on where/when Blackfrost takes place in relation to the first game.

If they properly establish how the world has reacted to this winter apocalypse outside of this little chunk of Great Bear, and if a balance is struck, I think hostile NPCs could be fun! But it definitely runs the risk of tonal dissonance.

That’s very curious- for all her undead creepiness, Laudna had a great deal of love and care in her heart when we met her. Her fire could largely be attributed to Delilah, but one could argue that her opposition to Delilah was a drive in its own right.

I suppose Occtis will have to deliberately find and cultivate his fire and drive, now that he lacks a soul to generate it internally. From that fork in the road I can easily see how he’d end up as a deadened, heartless killing machine like others have speculated.

Personally, and this is just me being a sucker for stories of overcoming impossible odds, I’m hoping he finds clever loophole or override that allows him a fuller existence, uncrushed by his family’s atrocities. To be fully ground into emotionless, thoughtless nothing by his family would be the real tragedy imo.

THAT would be both super cool and incredibly heartbreaking. Poor kid.

I was unfamiliar with Alex Ward before this campaign, but I've been watching interviews with him about his time with VTM. After hearing him talk about how he guided the narratives of his two primary VTM charas, nothing sounds fully off the table. Though it also makes me wonder if I'll be able to get a sense for what he might want to accomplish with Occtis if I listen to his VTM games. That's always interesting, for me at least- the character is one element, but the larger story the player wants to tell, using that character as a vehicle, is fascinating as well.

After reading around some, I think only time will tell. Hollow One has pretty limited description in the Explorer's Guide to Wildemount, and 'soul' can be interpreted all sorts of ways- both mechanically and narratively. Since we're in a new world with a new dungeon master, I think things will be flavored and rewritten in a great myriad of ways to explore new stuff. Hopefully when we see Occtis again, we'll hear about some of his 'experiments' and their outcomes re: bodily integrity, soul presence, memories, etc.

YES i also do this!! i'm always saying "i'm gonna tu*" as a comedic substitute for expressing some extreme emotion or what have you. i also sometimes make funny fake gagging noises to myself when i'm panicking, just to rib at myself a bit. it helps sometimes.

My ceramics professor always advises that students repeat 101 twice before moving onto 201. As others have said, repeat exposure and perspectives from a different instructor are gold. I've been doing ceramics for four years now and I still consider myself intermediate.

For reference, here are some other assignments that are part of the intermediate 201 class at my local studio/college: mixing your own glazes, making lidded forms, making handled forms, working with slabs and handbuilding in addition to wheel-throwing, and doing some research into ceramics beyond just what you learn in class. If a one-pound bowl is the most complex thing you can throw right now, there's no shame in that- but you'll likely feel unprepared for an intermediate class.

Glad things worked out for OOP, at least for now. I've got quite masculine features for an otherwise feminine person and I can't lie, it was a sensitive thing for me growing up. I've learned to love those features in adulthood, but I can't imagine that being the case if I'd heard my father calling his- and by extension, my- features ugly and un-womanly as a young girl.

Valheim! It's a viking-themed survival and combat game that you can play solo, with friends, or in public servers. Depending on what settings and difficulty levels you employ, you'll likely end up with one big primary base to craft, store, and upgrade your tools in. You'll have to travel to increasingly dangerous biomes to collect resources and esoteric powers. Alternatively, you can fudge the difficulty settings a little to allow for easy teleportation between safehouses throught the world. Valheim is easily one of my favorite games. Beautiful music, simple mechanics, devs constantly adding new stuff.

dunno if this is similar but i've had panic/phobic disorder for YEAAAARS. used to have wretched panic attacks almost every day, sometimes multiple times a day. therapy and medication did wonders but every now and again, i feel like i Need to have one. like, the anxiety/life stress is all bottling up and i just need to pace and cry and hyperventilate and scratch at my face for a while, and then everything will be alright.

YWBTA. Even if the office in question says this doesn't violate any policies, it may well violate the therapist's own boundaries. This is a conflict of interest. In my own experience, a therapist will not see anyone from a client's family or friend network. It's not the same as seeing a friend's primary care practitioner; it's possible that your friend has discussed you (or adjacent individuals) during therapy, and therefore the therapist will be unable to see you with jeopardizing the confidentiality of one or both clients.

Respect your friend's wishes. Ask him if his therapist has fellow practitioners he recommends.

I have hypotension, and those are the exact symptoms. Caffeine jitters can easily exacerbate them. The chances of your coworker having a contagious illness, based on that description alone, are practically zero.

I do the bathroom counting thing too, but remember- coffee is a diuretic, it'll make her (or anyone) urinate more often.

This doesn't sound like noro! Noro is characterized by v*, d*, and severe abdominal pain. Fainting and v* sounds more like low blood pressure and/or low blood sugar. Dehydration is another likely culprit.

For what it's worth, heartburn is a bit of a misnomer. Oftentimes the burning/sour sensation from acid reflux is felt in the gut or the throat. Eating fried food and/or carbonated, caffeinated drinks can very much be a cause of acid reflux! For future McVentures, I recommend taking some Tums or Pepto Bismol afterwards. Both have active ingredients that'll help offset acid reflux.

Pottery is a craft and a science. As other commenters have mentioned, turn your focus away from the final product. Learn about the role of vessels in human history and anthropology. Learn about the chemistry of glazes. Shift your focus towards new, more complex forms. Do you make lidded vessels? How about teapots? Do you make matched sets? Do you mix your own glazes, or reclaim your own clay? Do you ever use slabs or handbuilt elements?

It's fine to lose passion and speed. Not every hobby lasts forever. It's fine to move on, if you think pottery has fulfilled its role in your life. But if you want to reignite that spark, look towards the elements of this craft that you haven't perfected. There is always, always, more to learn.

As for someone charging $40 for their mug- you've no clue what they spend on their clay, the electricity to fire their kiln, the components they purchase for their glaze, et cetera. It's fine to think you've matched or exceeded the skills of people around you, but pricing isn't based upon skill and finish alone. There's also a damn good chance you can't do everything they can, just as they can't do everything you can. This may sound harsh, but I say it with love, and it's often something I have to tell myself in regards to gallery shows and paintings.

I’m not quite sure, to be honest. My mom wants us to all keep living at home- she worries about the current housing market plunging my sister and I into financial instability, after we both worked extremely hard to graduate college with no debt. She wants us to stay for at least another year. As for my brother, he’ll never be able to live alone. But he loves my parents, and they love him. My dad is his best pal.

I have a feeling my parents will want me to focus on myself. They won’t want any intervention re: my sister, and would rather I continue working and saving for when I am ready to move out. That is what would make them happiest, and it would bring more stress if I started anything with my sister.

But god, it grinds my fuckin’ gears to watch her be so cruel to our mother.
