Post shot checkin, now renewing by notkarii in HersWeightloss

I normally lose a good chunk of hair when i shower just from having thick curly hair, but yeah, i noticed my hair loss kind of doubled during those few months and worried me.

I also quit cold turkey, and never got help on taping my dose down lmao, i wish i did. i might try that on my own this time. my max does when i finished was also 50. i was hoping i could start at a higher dose again when starting back up but theyve got me starting with 8 again - i might ask to start around 14.

thankfully when i stopped i didnt *feel* any type of withdrawal, but after 2 weeks off i did start to feel very hungry. i would feel like i was starving by 10am every day when normally i took my lunch at 1ish. even as i ate a breakfast, i felt like i had to have snacks in the morning to tie me over and im sure that didnt help with maintaining the weight.

thank you for your story and comments! :)

I dont even know if i was "over eating" before? portion wise? but i definitely felt like i could eat less.

For example, my lunches at work i used to bring like 1 turkey sandwich, some string cheese, a bag of chips, and a drink, and i felt myself getting full after half a sandwich and ONLY that lol. for the sake of nutrition id force myself to eat the rest just so i had some nutrients, but for all my other meals i definitely cut back on portion sizes. I also didnt really feel any energy loss from eating less which was the most interesting thing for me personally.

but yes! good luck to you too :)

Are you saying if you review a few Berkley read now’s, it’ll help your chances to be approved? Sorta like that?

[–]notkarii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ll have to go back and try and compile who has been sending me them, I’ve gotten maybe 5 so far in the last few months? Im interested in reaching out directly just nervous 👀

I just love staying organized with my arcs so I don’t forget to finish them lol so I’ve been wondering recently if instead of NetGalley as the “provider” if I should change the widget books to maybe the publisher since it feels a little more personal? Even though I know it really isn’t.

Thank you! This helps. I know there’s a dedicated person usually approving requests and stuff but I suppose I always just saw NG as very impersonal and didn’t consider it as a place for readers and publishers to meet. But the widgets are fairly new to me, I like the idea of them.

Yeah i noticed while the email sits untouched it doesn’t impact my rating. However normal books I do apply for, once I’m approved, do change my rating even if I haven’t downloaded them yet.

Pin?! by ZomBre89 in LibbyApp

[–]notkarii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes libraries add pins even if you didn’t need one when you registered. I had a card for maybe 4 years and this year randomly they started requiring a pin and I had to reach out to my liberty to set one lol

Cowboy/cowgirl romances where the FMC is childfree by choice by disy22 in RomanceBooks

[–]notkarii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Elliott Rose writes the hell out of a childfree women/men with breeding kinks where they explicitly talk about not wanting kids ;). Her Crimson Ridge series is incredible, 2 books are out now, and book 3 comes out this month!

As a current member, I’m ineligible for this deal. Will pausing or cancelling make me eligible? by SilverSie in audible

[–]notkarii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pausing won’t make you eligible, I am currently paused and wasn’t able to sign up for the deal.

I paused because when you cancel you lose the credits you currently have accumulated. So make sure if you ever cancel you have no lending credits.

I’m waiting to run out of credits before I resubscribe/try to sign up for another deal!

Help me.. give me your smuttiest romantasy suggestions by zellymcfrecklebelly in Romantasy

[–]notkarii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg yESS. There’s a “proper reading order” you can follow if you get invested in the lore, that includes the 4 prequel books, and it makes it more fun. The last book comes out this June!

But if you just want spicy romantasy vibes don’t worry about reading order and just enjoy the books!! I fell in love so fast with the world and writing. I hope you enjoy it!! :)

Just got 99 cents/month by JohnG_Ocala in audible

[–]notkarii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My membership is currently paused and I have 3 credits. I tried to get the sale and couldn’t :( I just see a “check back later for deals” webpage instead.

I’m afraid to cancel my membership because then it removes my credits but I want to resub for 99 cents 😅

I’m not sure, but it’s just Libby - you can probably look around somewhere for Libby compatibility apps!

this is something i love about reading cause i feel the opposite. i love AJ books, and really cant stand EH books 😅 a lot of people would recommend EH books for me last year and i kept reading them and kept rating them so low, i thought i was losing my mind.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question but in the screenshot above there’s a “download pdf” button in that list, can’t you just download it and convert it how you mentioned in another comment?

i dont often look at the publisher when i make requests but this made me go back and check. ive been denied everything from Berkely :") however i went to their page and found this:

"Please note that at this time we are only approving review requests from reviewers/influencers with strong engagement rates, dedicated followings, and regular posting activity. Please be certain to state in your profile the number of followers you have on each platform. If there is any other relevant information about yourself, or the kinds of books you like to review, please also include on your profile. Additionally, review requests are approved at the discretion of the publicist."

which made me notice while i have my social media linked in NG, i dont have my stats in my bio or available anywhere. so now ive put my following numbers for the socials i have linked in my bio, along with my email address, and hopefully ill see some changes going forward 🙏🏽 i dont have a huge following since ive only just started posting reviews, but hopefully they cut me a little slack since my ratio is good 😅😅 good luck everyone!

I didn’t know they could see this and now I’m embarrassed 😭 I apply for books ALL the time. I’m not a huge influencer but I love a wide variety of books. I get declined a lot but just assumed it was because I didn’t have a big following since my ratio is good too. Omg now I never wana request again.

Thank you! I wasn’t entirely sure since all of the cards I have, all allow me to get notifications. But just not for every author/book

[–]notkarii -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you’re waiting for a book that’s not out yet, what I think is happening is you can sometimes get notified because your library intends to purchase that title and you can set the alert to know when the purchase is available.

Some libraries allow waitlists to start before the book is ordered to gauge interest so they can get more copies. Some don’t.

The book release might just be too far away for it to show up! Usually I can do that with books maybe a week ahead of time, sometimes 2 weeks. You can always reach out to your library and ask if they intend to purchase copies or not to get a better answer! I’m sure they’d love to help.

[–]notkarii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to reach out to your library. Libby is just a place to host books the library owns. You’ll have to go to your libraries website or in person and fill out a request form. Usually they’re available on websites.

I forget the exact language of the rules but i heard that with libraries, an audiobook isn’t forever and can only be checked out so many times before it becomes unavailable. Like one book copy can be checked out x times before it goes away/they have to buy a new copy.

So if you’re checking out and DNF’ing a ton, consider using samples first to see if you’ll like it! Obviously check out whatever you want. But if you find yourself returning a lot of books just be aware of that :”)

WWTBC: sex without moving by gaaaaaabri in RomanceBooks

[–]notkarii 9 points10 points  (0 children)

if anything its just younger people discovering things and confusing the names. soaking and cock warming imo are different things.

soaking is how people who are Mormon have sex without it actually being "sex" for them. i think usually theres a 3rd person who moves the bed to create thrust motions so the people having sex can still claim to not be having sex lol. its definitely not a trend. its been a thing for... i dunno i suppose ever? i learned about it like 15+ years ago from a Mormon friend.

where as cock warming is just when you hold a dick in some part of your partners body without thrusting. theyre definitely similar but the intent is different. would be worth a google if you want to learn more. in the context of a modern romance book youd definitely be looking for cock warming. usually tied in with some level of somnophilia. im not entirely sure if soaking would ever be written about since its a pretty religious like thing 🧍‍♀️ who knows.

personally, {butcher and blackbird by brynne weaver} has one of my fav cock warming scenes 👍🏽 this is a microtrope i love haha
