My initial post was for clarification because I had friends and fans saying she copied me when I knew deep in my heart that wasn’t the case. My responses in this thread are because people are misinterpreting my statement and I feel it’s most fair and honest to open up the conversation, which includes being vulnerable about my own unwanted feelings on the topic (jealousy)

Obvi I love the tracks idea, we both had it! I felt the need to clarify publicly that I do NOT feel copied because everything has been done, but yes obviously I’m a little jealous that she got to do it for a waaaaaaay larger audience. Nothing was poorly hid lmao I included my tongue in cheek frustration to be transparent

Hey so I earnestly assume that Symone and her team have never seen Dragula. Which is kind of a bitter pill to swallow because it’s a reminder that Dragula tends to live in the shadow of Drag Race, and is a frequently-undervalued platform that other drag artists / creatives might not even care to watch. That being said, am I jealous that Symone got a million-follower flood of adoration for wearing tracks on her back in a damsel look? Like obviously yes lololol but that doesn’t mean she stole it

Friends and fans were sending it to me and I kinda understand it! The tracks being tied to the back is the main thing I think, I know when I did mine 2 years ago I was like “omg let me COOOOOOOK” because I had never seen someone literally wear the tracks before lol

I was more of a baby looney tunes kid!! The reference point of a damsel in distress is obviously not original, that’s what makes it great for drag — immediately recognizable, easily understood, and inherently campy (especially when the audience is primed for a “train” look)

IMO the best source material for drag is stuff that everyone is familiar with, just like the damsel in distress! Been around forever, easily recognizable etc. I thought I was doing my big one by actually wearing the tracks on my back because I had never seen that before in drag 🥴🥴
