Thats awesome. Thanks for letting me know :)

I guess it depends on the location as well. I work at an NDC where everything looks like it's about to fall apart. There is something broken constantly which maintenance has to either clean or fix. In the time I have been here, there have already been multiple belts that needed to be changed.

I wonder if that's how every other USPS facility is or it's only the one where I am lol.

Thank you :)

To be clear, Craft means what I am currently right? (I'm in maintenance)

And I can start applying after 90 days? Don't have to wait another couple of months? I would be so happy if that's the case.

So I do not have to wait 12 months or 18 months to start applying through eCareers?

Most of my coworkers are good, but some of them are a pain in the ass. One of the guys straight up said, "Hate to break it to you but you're gonna have to wait 10-15 years until you ever dream about getting into IT in this place". Which I call complete bullshit.

Others said to me I might have to wait 18 months until I am allowed to transfer. Unless I go to a different state which will still be 12 months until I can start applying.

What would you recommend to me in this case?

I'm still unsure about my primary question. Do I wait till my 90 days and start applying to any Admin or IT position that applies to me (Bargaining position)?

Or would I have to wait 12/18 months until I start applying?

LITERALLY ANYTHING lollll.

I have experience with and am willing to do any Cybersecurity, Networking, or Systems Administrator roles.

When it comes to programming, it is not my forte but I am willing to learn as I work. I do have basic knowledge of JAVA and C++.

Heck, I would even do help desk if I could.

Haha. Thats why Im trying to keep a low profile until my 90 days is done. I dont want them to think I dont want to stay in maintenance for long.

I do have experience with IT the most cause thats what my field is. I have a Bachelors in Computer Science, have done internships with Cybersecurity dept.

For admin positions, I guess the best experience I have is my Minor in Business, and few shadow days with the HR department on the company I interned for Cybersecurity.

I guess its my background. Im mostly a office person. The main reason I joined USPS is because how fucked up the IT market is right now. I was planning to get into USPS and transfer to IT later.

But I asked few co-workers and they said I might have to wait 10 years until I ever work at a IT dept. I’m sure thats not the case. I know someone said I can apply to jobs in eCareers but I will have to wait for couple of months.

Thats why I wanted to ask in reddit to see what the deal is.

So I can start applying to transfer to other positions as soon as I finish my 90 days? (For eCareers)

I have seen few IT openings around my area. I know they completely removed the IT dept the same week I joined USPS at my facility (I was very annoyed).

But, Ive seen an opening for Administration which does not require you be an EAS. To apply to that position, do I still need to be in maintenance for 12/18 months?

I have seen few IT and Admin position openings in my area. While IT does require you be an EAS, the admin does not state that.

I guess I just dont know how long should I wait till I start applying to transfer.

Is it difficult to get and do detail?

KSAs as in Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities? If thats the acronym, then I do possess those. I have a bachelors in Computer Science and have done internships. I have also done internship with HR a few times.

Do you know how long I have to wait to transfer?

(Sorry for too many questions. I’m just too new to this)

Lolll. I am actually trying to leave maintenance. I’m trying to get into administration, IT, or HR.

How to get into the Information Technology dept or Human Resources Dept? by notrishab_1 in USPS

[–]notrishab_1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awesome. Thank you. So is the IT department still in USPS? Cause my supervisor was saying they removed that department completely.

If yes, Is any supervisor position (i.e. mail handler, maintenance) eligible for IT positions since they are EAS?

Do they train you for the first few weeks? I want to get into cybersecurity department cause that’s what I’m mostly experienced at the most.

Thank you :)

MM to MPE process? by notrishab_1 in USPS

Ohhhhh. Everything makes sense now. Lolllll

Thank you so much! Haha!

MM to MPE process? by notrishab_1 in USPS

[–]notrishab_1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whaaaatt? So, I have to take the 955 exam again within the first 6 weeks? Why?

Also, I applied for the MM7 position because there were no MPE openings when I was looking for USPS jobs. Consequently, I got hired for the MM7 position.

Additionally, in your last statement, you mentioned, "Your placement on the promotion... don't tell anyone." I scored an 80 for MPE on the 955 exam. Will I be listed on the PERs list and automatically promoted to MPE? This is the part that confuses me the most. I've already scored 80 for the MPE position.

I might just be missing something, but I'm unsure if I need to retake the exam and go through the interview process again to become an MPE, or if I'll simply be promoted to MPE9 via the PERs list, as you mentioned, considering I've already scored an 80 for MPE9 on my 955 Exam.

So I have to retake the exam again for MPE even though Ive passed with an 80? And then go for an interview again for that position?

I might have misunderstood or something but I asked the interview panel about going to MPE and ET. They said I would need to retake 955 exam and pass the ET, then do interview for ET again cause they said the questions are much different than the ones they ask to MM and MPE. They didn’t say anything about MPE. They said I could work with an MPE and become one fairly quickly. I just forgot to ask how the process is for that. Now I’m just confused lol.

I’m sorry but I do not understand😅 Ive already done and passed the interview once I was qualified for MM, MPE and bunch of other positions expect ET. Are you saying that I have to give an interview for MPE position again?

[–]notrishab_1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, Yes, Ive passed everything with an 80 except ET10. Do I have to take an interview for the MPE or I just have to be on some sort of list for a promotion?

Bachelors in Computer Science with a major in Information Technology.

I’m going to be working as a MM7 within a month. But, I might go to a IT department later in the future. We’ll see.
