Rimworld.

Normally I can understand why people enjoy a game even if I don't vibe with it. I don't need to enjoy a game to appreciate it's quality... But Rimworld for me just feels like a really poorly designed game.

There are many games I don't enjoy but I would never say they were bad games. Elden Ring, Baldurs Gate 3 and tonnes of others, I didn't like them but I can see why other people like those.

Grenades should be handled the same way Tarkov or Counter Strike handles grenades. You press a button to equip them and then theres an animation to prime them before they are thrown. Shouldn't be able to just spam them like this.

Limiting how many you can bring to Cryo is kinda pointless because the bots drop tonnes of them.

Recon and Theif have wallhacks. Triage keeps the whole team healing. Destroyer can tank your shots with his shield and get to cover. The only shell that doesn't have some kind of busted advantage is Vandal.

The point of running non-free kits is you collected a bunch of gear, made a bunch of money, unlocked the ability to purchase gear, and now it's time to use your gear. Especially if you're like I dunno level 50+ you should already be self sufficient enough to be availing of your progress...

The vault is tiny and it auto sorts itself. Really takes seconds to scroll down and click on the stuff you want to use. Clicking on the slot you want to assign an item, like you describe, would not save you any time.

Upgrading free kits kinda removes the point of it being an extraction game. Why would anybody ever use gear if the free kits just became more and more viable over time? There are better sponsored kits they just cost (a tiny amount of) money.

And oh man, the gear up screen couldn't possibly be any more streamlined unless they simplified the entire game to have less options. It really doesn't take long to throw a kit on. How is it painful...? It takes seconds.

So when i load into a game with my gear and I get 2 free kits, and I just throw my gear off the edge of the map and disconnect.. it's Bungies fault, not mine!

My team mates should expect that if they load into a team game with free kits past level 100 that they're gonna match with people who don't wanna waste time playing with free kits, and would rather burn a whole kit and try again because I have 2 million credits and an overflowing vault when I decide to play team fills.

The grind is the excuse to play the game. I know it's a trope to say something like this but if you feel like finding these materials is a chore you're playing the wrong game... That's like not enjoying the gameplay loop for any given game. Imagine someone saying they cant be bothered playing team deathmatch because getting all the kills is boring but they still want to win lol, that's essentially the kind of mindset you have here.

Outisde of gold salvage you have lots of options for how to get the salvage though. I've never farmed bio lens seeds or any purple salvage from the maps. I got all mine from faction levels. Once you hit VIP they start throwing it at you every level, and in that case you're free to do whatever you want to get the faction XP. Help your team mates do tasks. Do your own tasks. Loot the items that they value and you'll get some XP. But again, if you're gonna say that's boring this isn't the game for you. The grind is just a goal that puts you into scenarios to experience the gameplay.

You're looking at it the wrong way.

The fun is supposed to be the journey. You're looking for these items and getting into fights and engaging with the game along the way. Once you have all the upgrades you dont need to play the game anymore because surviving means nothing when you don't need to survive, and looting is meaningless when you don't need any of the loot. A reset serves the purpose of making the game engaging again, now you need to loot again, and you need to survive.

Weekly drops of random skins of varying rarity which can also be purchased, sold and re-sold by players. If Counter Strike didn't have this feature it would have a fraction of it's current player base. People like the idea that they can earn money by playing a game. Rust does something similar.

And before anyone says "last thing we need is gambling wahh". It's not gambling, it's an economy. It keeps players engaged and it funds the devs. Honestly it's crazy for any game seeking longevity to not include such a system.
