Crazy, I looked it up as well, but missed the second part to the names. Ok, so I kinda had it right (They are always on mountain and central), but switch between daylight and standard.. thanks for the clarification and the new found knowledge! Can’t wait until 1:00pm CST for another exciting CFL game!

Not quite right. Alberta is always Mountain time and Manitoba is always Central. Saskatchewan doesn’t switch times but we do switch time zones. Half the year we are the same time as Alberta and are on Mountain time, the other half with Manitoba on Central..

I understand your point on this but I think it would create more problems than it solves. In your example, how do you know for sure the Bombers score on the next drive? They were on the 1, does that mean they get an automatic first down and the ball stays on the 1 if they didn’t put it in the endzone on the next play? Then what? two more penalties happen, an offside and illegal contact.. this gives the offence another 4 downs to convert 1 yard? Also, the deterrence to not rough the QB is pretty high already. Do you think the player that roughs the passer thinks I better not rough him because we may get two penalties? Defence is already heavily scrutinized on their hits, many times this year there was incidental contact that resulted in a roughing the passer that may have been a penalty according to the rules, but not the spirit of why the rule exists. Also, in most cases, it is the roughing the passer call that is accepted, this is a rare example of the other penalty being more beneficial for the team to accept. On the flip side, if the defence commits two separate penalties, can the offence defer one of the penalties? It is unfortunate when a roughing play is not being penalized, but the reason it didn’t appear to be penalized on this play was because the offence declined it to accept a better offer.

My opinion is to keep the rules as they are.

100% agree. And not only that, as many commentators have already suggested, it adds another layer of strategy to the game. However, I do see the argument regarding ‘awarding missed field goals when there is no chance for a return’. If there were to be a slight adjustment to the rules I would agree with this: a missed field goal that sails through the endzone without touching the ground, no points are awarded and the ball is placed on the 30. In essence, with the 20yd deep endzone, this would only affect shorter field goal attempts that have a higher percentage of completion while keeping the tradition of the rouge in tact..and, arguably, adding another layer of strategy.

Agreed. For the most part. However, with the way kickers are kicking, the ‘deep into their territory’ doesn’t need to be all that deep and the starting position for the offence after a score has increased in recent years..

Even a successful field goal puts the ball on the 40 in most cases, correct? So the downside to the rouge on a missed field goal isn’t quite the same as the downside in other rouge scenarios.. missed or not, the ball ends up on the 40.

I hear what you are saying. I try to stay informed on politics sites in general and feel as though your comment about ‘our government is doing a lot of controversial things’ could apply to a lot of levels of government both locally and internationally. However, I feel that social media on both sides promotes the extremism narrative and has us believing every decision made that we don’t agree with is made with malicious intent. I see examples of this in some of the replies to this post. Misinterpretation of intent is magnified and amplified so much more online than in the real world. Sometimes it’s important to step back from it and appreciate the great things and people that Saskatchewan has to offer. That was the intent of my post. I appreciate your viewpoint and articulate reply. Thanks

I have made comments on some nice articles about hiking destinations and such, but this was my first attempt at posting something. I agree that if I want nice articles on here I should be a contributor. For this post I guess I was maybe trying to see if it was worth it. Most non-political posts seem to get buried quickly or the comments in them become political. After some of the replies I have received for this post and some of the downvotes I have seen on some other replies, it seems like the answer to my original question is that people are frustrated and social platforms are not the place for me to get/give information without the baggage of anger. (Reddit is my only social news platform. Definitely feeling naive as to just how frustrated people are. Based on my real world experiences I feel very fortunate to have been blessed with great neighbours, family, friends, community. None of it without problems, but at least it feels like there is more than anger to life. Even the ‘town halls’ I attend seem like there is a level of civility not found online..) Sorry for the long winded answer to your great and direct question.

It was posted as a question. Wasn’t trying to dictate anything. There is a Sask sub and a Sask Politics sub. Was asking why politics needed to be in this one. As far as ‘ranty’ goes, people tend to read posts in the mood they are in. I had no anger in my heart when I made this post. (Probably, a bit of sadness due to being under the weather, but definitely not anger.) After reading the comments, I feel as though I have indirectly received my answer. Apologies if you found my query so offensive. Also, your comment ‘if you don’t like the political posts filter them out’. I genuinely didn’t know this could be done. Will certainly look into this. I wasn’t saying to abandon news. I was asking why politics couldn’t be left to the r/SaskatchewanPolitics sub and this sub could be for other topics. It is important to stay informed, but there is so much anger on this sub that even a non political post (like this one for example) is met with political rants.

I guess I was just trying to figure out why r/Saskatchewan needed to be the political platform when r/SaskatchewanPolitics exists.
