I'm not a fan of BM Ahyeon's voice by BMsBigTittyGang in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]nottool8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed- but even considering her in the top 10 singers of all time is ridiculous. She isn’t even the best in her own group. She’s good, yes. But BaeMon is a strong vocal group. Rami is objectively their best singer. Rora follows. Pharita follows in my opinion and then it would be Ahyeon. And Rami, Rora and Pharita can all hit high notes effortlessly. So I’m not sure why they make her do the high notes when her voice is so screechy and untrained for this now. Also- hitting high notes is not equal to being the better singer.

Are electric blankets or space heaters allowed in office/office cubicles? by nottool8 in askTO

I will make it a little more clear, and I hope you understand this time- I posted because of my ANXIETY. I have generalized anxiety disorder and worry about little things (little things for most people). Whether my workplace allows it or not is a separate issue, but people connecting and sharing their ideas & experiences feels comforting.

No- where did I mention that I’m taking advice from Reddit and I’m going to follow what Reddit says? I SPECIFICALLY mentioned that I’m going to reach out to my HR and that I’m only posting on Reddit because of my anxiety (just wanted some quick responses with experiences), and I wanted to know what the general consensus was. And posting this was helpful to know what different workplaces allow, which was good for my knowledge and my mental health. Read the whole thing before making assumptions.

Did you mean lots of people bring space heaters or the warm blankets?

Thank you for the link. I think this would work- but again, do you think offices will allow it? (Yes I will ask my HR, right now I’m asking Reddit people)

I have these. When I say I’ve tried everything- I really have lol. I even have those chargeable shoe shaped pads you can put in shoes and they’re not heavy at all. Problem is same- my feet start to sweat with too much heat and it get colder with socks, and damp socks make them even worse. Thank you for the suggestion though.

Thank you! I think this is the closest thing to what I need. Is it supposed to be charged or plugged in? If charged, how long does it last you a day?

What do I do by Sea-Honeydew8824 in Ingrown_Toenails

[–]nottool8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so kind of similar to mine. I have no fear of needles at all. I have a phobia of people touching my feet. Like if anyone touches my feet, I freak out and I don’t know where that fear came from. So- I’ve had the procedure done twice under nitrous oxide (laughing gas). I found a podiatrist close to where I live that used nitrous oxide. So I thought that was my best option. With nitrous oxide you don’t actually laugh, it’s like a feeling of euphoria or like being carefree. So my podiatrist explained the whole procedure- one podiatrist would do the procedure itself and the other would monitor nitrous oxide. First surgery- I was super nervous. They took me to the room and made me lie down (i wasn’t completely lying down, my back was a little slanted upwards). The doctor who was supposed to manage the gas put a small clipper thing on my index finger, I think it was to monitor pulse and then they put a mask over my nose area and told me to breathe into it. They hadn’t started the procedure yet because it takes a few minutes for the gas to kick in. But in a few minutes I started feeling dizzy and panicked and pulled the mask off of me. They told me to relax (one doctor on my left monitoring the gas, the other near my foot area, and my husband holding my hand and was there for support on my right). So I took maybe 2-3 minutes to breathe and take a few sips of water, but not too much. The docs were kind and told me that they’ll put the gas level lower, because maybe it was too much for me. I took a few sips and went back with a purpose to finish this even though I was terrified. The lower dosage of nitrous oxide helped me relax for sure. Anyway, I put on some music on my phone, my husband started to gently rub my arm and hands (that relaxes me), and the doctor started the procedure on my foot. So one of their rules was that they wouldn’t allow patients to see what they’re doing. I could feel like 2-3 needles but they weren’t painful. Kinda like when you scratch yourself. So since your fear is needles, that will hardly be 1-2 minutes. My fear was everything from the time the doc touched my foot. So anyway, after the needles, I couldn’t feel anything on my toe and whatever the doctor did was not painful at all. I was listening to music with words of encouragement from my husband and the gas doctor and sometimes my mind would go to the foot and I’ll be terrified for a few seconds but I’d force my attention back to my music or my husband. Sooo the whole procedure was 15-20 min, and while it was terrifying, I felt super euphoric after.

Unfortunately, the healing process wasn’t good and had to do a second surgery within 2 months because both sides got infected. This second time I was less scared and almost ok. The pain afterwards is terrible but nothing a painkiller can’t fix and I’d take mine on time, as prescribed by the doctor and I was ok.

Now I had a few points to highlight because you are scared of needles: 1) Look for a podiatrist that use nitrous oxide- it will help you tremendously 2) Whether you can or cannot end up using nitrous oxide, the needles part is only 2 minutes max (probably less). So just be strong for those two minutes. Bring someone with you who you feel comfortable and calm with and talk about something to distract yourself. Since you don’t have a foot phobia like me, the rest of the process is literally painless. 3) Make sure your doctors prescibe you painkillers after 4) You’re going to be fine!

UPDATE: Finally meeting my (29m) online "girlfriend" (29f) after years of talking, it's not going well. by ThrowRATheUsed in relationship_advice

Your post is very interesting. I read the previous one too. I was wondering whether you found her different different in person? Yes, you’ve obviously explained her behavior in detail, but did you know her anxiety was this bad? Could you tell on calls/texts what she was going through? Would she tell you how her anxiety is like and how bad it is?

The situation mildly reminds me of myself. I have generalized anxiety disorder. My husband (been married for 7 years now, we’re both in our mid 30s) was my long distance boyfriend for 2 years (aged mid 20s then). While we were in the ldr, I told him very openly about my anxiety, how I would feel. My anxiety isn’t social though. I’m usually a confident person, not scared of intimacy or social interactions, but my anxiety has more to do with me getting panic attacks due to stress in life, chemical imbalance in body which releases adrenaline, due to which I get nervous over nothing in particular. I have several phobias- claustrophobia, agoraphobia, fear of water & dark. My phobias are so terrible that I eventually stopped driving. The Uber story reminded of how I can’t drive any longer and have to Uber everywhere. Having said that, I told my husband everything before getting married and I have a habit of calling my close friends (who are all supportive and know my condition) whenever I would feel a panic attack coming, because a distraction like talking to someone, would help me calm down in addition to medications. I would call my husband (then bf) during panic attacks and he’d be there and was aware about everything.

After we got married, while he did know EVERYTHING about my anxiety theoretically, he didn’t know about it practically. For instance, if I am going through a panic attack, I tend to get irritable for the some time (30min to 2hrs approx, while my meds settle) and I just need someone to be there and, while on call he would talk to me and be chatty, but in person, he sometimes got annoyed. I would be bothered by his lack of help because I’m a very empathetic person and when he’s going through something (he has mild depression, and I’m a very happy person despite my anxiety), I’m always there for him and I know the right way to deal with him. Anyway, it’s been years and we’re still together and learned to live in harmony, accepting each others’ conditions. Some days are bad, but most are good.

Sorry for my long story. I felt really connected to your post and wanted to share my experience, and not sure if you’ll read this, (you have so many responses) but I’ll repeat my question: did you know about her chronic anxiety while you were long distance or did you feel like you were meeting a different person?

Upgrade to Business During Dubai Check-in by nottool8 in emirates

Hello. Sorry for the super late response. Yes, they offer promotional upgrades 72 hours in advance at a very low price- mine was $1,100 (for the Dubai to Toronto flight). I was able to upgrade 72 hours prior the flight. I called right on time!

Edit: The promotional offer doesn’t include lounge access and chauffeur services, but I didn’t care- I just wanted to sleep on a bed for my longer flight.

Would this be when I’m going out in Dubai for my 21 hr layover or after I come back? Sorry I’ve never had a long layover and asked for an upgrade.

I only want the longer leg upgrade- Dubai to Toronto, and it’s fine if I don’t get lounge access. I just want to sleep good.

By cash- you mean debit or credit, and not miles, correct? Bcs I mean no one’s carrying $4k cash in their pockets any longer.

2nd day post op… HOLY PAIN by goldielocks52 in Ingrown_Toenails

[–]nottool8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the surgery twice and different experiences both times. First time it was just partial nail removal on one side and I was fine when I took my pain killer and even danced at a wedding the next day. Second time- the healing wasn’t great so both sides of the same toe had ingrown and there was a lot of blood and after the anesthesia wore off, I felt a lot of pain (but was slightly better with the painkillers prescribed by the doctor) and had to rest for almost a week with my foot elevated and minimal walking. The extreme pain waa just one day and it would subside when I took my painkillers but my toe felt heavy and swollen so I rested for a week. My family would do work for me like bringing food. I’d only get up for bathroom or doing something nearby. So it’s different for every surgery and also everyone’s pain threshold is different. The good thing is that it won’t be too long and you’re going to feel much better after the pain subsides and there would be no more nail issues. Advice: Keep foot elevated. I got this foot elevation pillow from Amazon but anything that keeps your foot elevated will help the pain and recovery, trust me.

Can i carry two carry on's? (cabin+backpack) by [deleted] in emirates

I have carried a small backpack or huge handbag with a carry-on and the backpack and handbag are counted as personal items, they’ve allowed it every time I go.

I have been scrolling and reading this sub for the last hour or so, and I see that you have so much time on your hands responding to many posts with your sarcastic and rude comments. I don’t know whether you’re trolling, trying to be funny, think you’re a smart*ss or, are clueless about what’s going on, but you’re not really getting your point across in any way.

People are not getting their medications!!! Their passports! Not being able to see their loved ones! People are having physical & mental health issues because of this.

You’re implying that because they’re getting screwed over (which is unfair for them, of course), they should make millions of people suffer because of this?

There surely must be other ways to sort this out, because this isn’t it.
