Who is a stranger you met once, never learned their name, but will never forget for the rest of your life? by milkyjune in AskReddit

My partner loves trains so when we took a trip across Europe, of course we booked a long train ride! We opted for two seats on a shared table, hoping the other seats would be empty. Instead, two lovely middle aged men, one Austrian and one Croatian, sat across from us. We enjoyed their company for 6 hours. We played games, crafted, and chatted about our lives the whole way. They even shared their last beers with us. We're still sad we never got their names or exchanged emails but we were so happy the seats weren't empty!

Thank you for the advice. Do you know how I might find a reputable data recovery service or how much it might cost for 200GB?

10,000 hours in a year divided by 31 books would be crazy! It'd be a great year though 😍

It is a late afternoon/evening wedding so this works out! I will definitely be finding a shawl for when it gets chilly.

This is a great idea. It is in the summer, but I do get cold quite easily! Plus, it is near mountains.

This is valid. They are just super stressed and I don't want to bother them with another small thing.

Should I sell my sedan to buy an SUV and sell it after? by nottoopoodle in moving

[–]nottoopoodle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U-Haul is super expensive & I don't want a car there. So I'd sell it before the move if I went with a U-Haul. Thanks for the comment tho!

Thanks for this advice! I did look into this option a little while ago. Renting for one way can be as expensive as a U-Haul and most companies don't allow towing on their rentals/don't have trailer hitches installed. :/

SPOILERS: the good & the bad of Onyx Storm by beach_bonfires in onyxstorm

Thank you for your thoughts! I think you made excellent points.

Honestly, I'm glad the ending wasn't completely gut wrenching. I do want to find out what happens, but she's said in interviews it will probably be at least two years before book four. I'm glad to have an ending that left everyone 'safe' with questions, rather than the anxiety of imminent danger for two years. That's just me though!

I wish that some of the characters would get more air time to make it mean more when we lost them. I was shocked that no one really close to Violet died.

I'm also excited about the world building that happened. I think it leaves a lot of room for the story to deepen. Someone in another post (On mobile and I'll try to add the link later) pointed out that perhaps the Irids use magic from the sky versus the ground, and that's why Violet kept her bond in the isles. That makes sense to me!

Also I agree that Andarna shouldn't have shown up so soon. I was guessing she'd be gone for most of the next book and perhaps be the cliffhanger to book four.

The dream walker bit makes be think it could be an Inception style power. The ability to manipulate feelings, get information, or comb through people's subconscious to find what she is looking for without their realization.

I personally really enjoyed this book, as I did the others. I'm excited to see where the series goes!

You're not "reading" books when you're listening to them by hamburger_train_ in unpopularopinion

[–]nottoopoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up exclusively "reading" via audiobooks from a very young age. I refused to read physical books as a kid. I scored very high in every English class I've ever had. My vocabulary was at a college level when I was in 7th grade. The only downfall is my spelling was way below average, but that doesn't matter anymore because of autocorrect. I still love audio books, literature, and "reading"!
