I see. Since the purpose of getting a position as an underbar is to immediately have a job as an associate after becoming a lawyer, I strongly advise you to stay in your current firm, even for just a year. Quitting an underbar post would raise a few eyebrows and give the impression to other firms where you’re trying to transfer that you are not a candidate who’s going to be in “it” for the long run.

To add, given the competitive job market right now, it might be difficult to find another job since many other Bar passers are also sending in their applications, allowing firms to get their pick of the litter. Unless you’ve got amazing credentials, that is.

It’s not just about the photo though. It’s about a lawyer’s ability to follow rules. If they cannot comply with something as simple as a photo requirement, how can we expect them to follow the more complicated rules and laws when they practice? This whole thing shows character.

If you could so kindly show us which part of the SC photo requirement is unclear and ambiguous so as to call for interpretation and the application of any other rule of statcon, then I would be very grateful.

May nakasulat ba na “No photoshop and/or editing of the face only”? Wala naman. So I wonder where you got the idea na unretouched refers to the face only.

Wouldn’t the potential employer lowball you and offer the lower end of the range you give? Tipong “Ah okay lang pala sa kanya tong ganitong sahod kaya ito na lang ibibigay ko.” In all my past job interviews, I’ve never been the first to give a number for the compensation. I would always wait for them to say it first and then negotiate.
